Alright, I've asked around and see that it's either Retadin, or AoE Prot.

What about your opinions? I'm going to respec my pally.... He is ret now and is okay with single target (eg. the 'kill MrBigshot and collect his pie) but I hear about AoE and how you can take 5 mobs at once (kill x of y)

What would you reccomend? I dont want to gimp my single target by going prot, but all the 'Kill X of Y' (or collect x of y from dead trolls) quests in STV are kinda really annoying.

Any advice? :)
edit: oh and I know some a$$hats are going to protest my asking, but I keep getting such mixed responses :(

For straight leveling I'd say stick it out with Ret. Doing quests is the best way to level now (due to 2.3) and Ret gives so much more firepower to just plow through enemies.

Doing quests in Tanaris right now as Prot and my God if a Runner grabs a friend, i might as well just grab a whole new AE set because it takes me like 90 seconds to kill one guy. It also takes 90 seconds to kill 4-6 guys, so there is viability in leveling as Prot, but certain monsters (many quest monsters for instance) don't always make the best AE targets.

While Prot gives you a lot more resilience to take beatings with, I think Ret is much better setup for taking on quests durring these levels.

Prot is for farming (I can do RFK BFD ect like cake) and Tanking instances, Ret is good for PVP and solo.

Sure you can find groups to AoE with, but you're not going to be able to complete every kill quest that way. Frequently the mobs will be spaced out such that when you try to get more than 2 or 3, they will leash back to their spawn point and you won't be able to kill them. Also I don't know whether you play on a wuss.. I mean PvE server or PvP server, but someone trying to kill 6 things at once screams "gank me!"

Myself I went ret 1-58 then switched to holy so I could begin to regear myself and force myself to learn how to quest/grind as holy so when I hit 70 I was immediately ready to go, and didn't have to respec just to farm.

Having played both, I'd say Ret is faster in terms of questing. However, I am currently being smoked by caster mobs so my choice might be biased.

Do note this: You can kill mobs one at a time in order to complete all quests, but not all quests can be AoEed.

I dunno why you would include an edit like that, I think it's a perfectly legitimate question.

The only thing is you should post your current armory. That way I can check out your level, talents, and gear choice and give advice to fully round-out your paladin depending on which way you want to go.

Yeah, tis just that other spec advice I've seen here has been flamed with 'look at FAQ n00b!' type comments...

Solera on Aerie Peak :)

Its mostly quested/instanced greens/blues :P

Well if the information is readily available in the FAQ (like it usually is) then it will get flamed with that. That's what it's there for and I'm sorry that I get a little impatient when someone who just came onto the boards didn't take the 5 minutes to look at the FAQ that it took me a couple weeks to make.

Your question isn't readily available in the FAQ, thus it's a good one.

As for your character, I dunno why you have that point in protection. Maybe it was an accident or something, but everything else looks pretty good. Imp. BoM is better on paper than in application. I may be wrong, but you probably use BoW more than you use BoM, and if you don't then you should as it will allow you to grind more. Using those points you could grab Imp. SotC and Sanctity aura. All in all, maybe a spec more like this would probably serve you better.

Another comment is that your weapon is kinda outdated, look for another weapon in the advanced item search that will suit you better. Remember, looking for a weapon 3.6 or slower will net you the best returns for damage if you use SoC. I'd also invest more in STR if I were you. You are already investing a lot in str, but more doesn't hurt, and AGI at your level isn't as useful as STR.
