As a Moonkin Druid will I be a viable addition to end game raiding?

BT and so forth?

Or am I pretty much going to be forced into a Feral or Resto build?

I love my moonkin but I'm seriously worried that end game I'm going to amount to jack ****.

Not an ideal role, but one in a raid is useful with the aura.

At that level, theorycraft all you want but it's about 30% the class and 70% the player.

Yeah, thank Blizzard for your AoE spellcrit aura. That's just about all you're useful for in a raid, no offense.

If you didn't have that aura, you'd probably be replaced in a heartbeat by a Shadow Priest.

I would like to take this opportunity to point out Remove Curse, Tranquility, Rebirth, and Innervate...

Yes, 3 of the 4 are Resto skills, but if you know what you're doing, you'll use them effectively.

Also usefull for tanking the shaman in the High king Maulgar fight in Gruuls lair, since he is best tanked at ranged and he polymorphs his main agro target, which a moonkin is ocf immune to.

With decent gear a moonin can definately be a valuable addition to a raid, offering both good dps and raid utility, but don't expect raids to take more than one or maybe two moonkins per raid. Seeing as most guilds have enough dps and usually need more healers and tanks, you will often find yourself pushed in one of those directions. Just try to find a guild that will let you play your spec and who don't have a moonkin already

So can I get any more opinions on this matter?

My guild is in SSC/TK, and we have a couple raiding moonkins. Our MT is also a Prot Pally. The hardest part will be finding a guild that's looking for a moonkin. I would suggest going to your server forum and either post that you're a moonkin looking for a raiding guild, or look for a raiding guild that's recruiting moonkin.

It does depend on the guild and the player, my guild raids with me and another moonkin and we are doing ssc/tk atm.

I personally know one moonkin who raids BT at the moment. She does quite ok damage and is a valued member of her raid group.

In my raid group which is much less advanced (early SSC/TK level) we have two moonkins in our raidpool. They are at least 30% behind our main DPSers which are rogues, hunters, 1 shadow priest at the moment. Our warlocks and mages are usually ahead of our moonkins, but sometimes a moonkin can beat a few locks/mages.

The main problem will indeed be to find a raid which is that advanced and still looking for a moonkin as this spec is not really needed.
Your best call would be to find a SSC/TK raid group which is willing to take on a moonkin and advance to Hyjal/BT with them. It is more likely you'll find a raid group that way, although resto and feral druids are much more searched for (regardless of level of progression).

As my experience is only from raiding Kara, my view is a little limited. I have found that for myself and the guild I am in that I will out DPS most of the mages and Locks. My big problem is trying to out DPS the rogues.

For the record as of about last night with full raid buffs I have managed +1055 spell damage, 168 mp5, ~27.5% base Crit, and 13k armor in Moonkin form. Except for trinkets, my neck piece and my boots all of my gear is now of Epic grade. I will not say that this setup is possible for all druids looking to go moonkin. It takes alot of time and patience to build up the gear to pull it off. Assuming the blizzard Armory decides to refresh my character is Mandragal on the Kirin Tor Server if you care to see the gear that I am using. 4 of the pieces I have are LW crafted (Windhawk set and the Windscale hood). I have the 60 badge Moonkin shoulders, S3 leggings, T4 gloves, and the boots are a blue from Sethek halls.

It is sad to say but they are right in that your +spell crit aura is your main feature to bring to the raid. Any other caster class can do what we do and they are easier to get the right gear for the job. But with alot of hard work you can add a lot of DPS to the group as a whole once properly geared.

DOOMkin FTW!!!

Don't think of it as a problem, Blizzard themselves have stated time and time again that Rogue is designed to be the highest single-target DPS in the game.

If you're out DPSing a rogue, and you're not in a situation that has melees moving around a lot while ranged can hold still, the rogue sucks, basically.

This is one rogue in particular that I am not out DPSing. I am challenging myself to get to the point where I can if that is even remotely possible. :P
