Res and DefenseFollow

#1 Dec 11 2007 at 9:59 AM Rating: Decent
Ok...so im rolling on my druid and seeing some raiding tank druids sitting around with Res gear. What i am trying to understand is this...does Res work the same way as Def? If it does, can you be uncritable and just tank all PVE raids with full s1 or higher arena gear?

Just trying to see how all of that works. Please, if one of you is rolling that way, respond. Don't want to farm BGs to get the gear and see that it doesn't work.

Tip #1: Always read stats description.

Yes, Resilience prevents you from being crit'd. It also reduces the damage you get when crit'd and the damage from DoT's. However, your goal is to never get crit'd so this stat is only half-useful, but it's still a viable way to become uncrittable.

You can combine it with Defense, as so long as it covers the 5.6% chance to be crit'd. (With SotF, as long as it covers the 2.6%)

You shouldn't need too much Def/Resil to cover it anyway so go ahead with the best gear you can find, if it happens to be PvP/Arena gear it should work. Just keep an eye on your total chance to avoid crits.

It takes 103 Resilience or 156 Def Rating (or a combo of the two) to reach crit immunity as long as you have the SotF talent. Go for the S2 or S3 stuff though if you can as it is much nicer than the S1 stuff.

Keep in mind that def also effects dodge (and miss I believe) so if you want to go res then you will need some agility to cover the spread.

Druids don't benefit from Def nearly as much as Warrs do for all aspects of their avoidance. A Druid can go straight for Agi after hitting the uncrittable status to boost his Dodge as much as possible.

It takes about ~59 Def Rating for 1% Dodge, while for a Druid it takes only ~15 Agi to get that same 1% Dodge. (And Agi is plentiful on tanking gear whereas Def on leather gear is few and far between)
