Gear Check PleaseFollow

#1 Dec 10 2007 at 7:43 PM Rating: Decent
Sup. Guild is rebuilding our Kara teams. Most of the original raiders left and we are getting ready to start up again. I have done the gear checks and all. I check these boards quite a bit so i think i am ready. Problem is my guild is counting on me to be the heavy DPS's. I feel that my AP and CRIT% are a little low to be doing what they are expecting of me. I know that it will change as gear drops and i replace my PvP stuff with PvE gear. I have a week or so till we start our first runs. What should i be doing as far as instances. I dont think i am ready for heroics yet (i could be wrong). So... knowledgeable posters please offer me some advice and insight as to what i should be changing or looking out for. Thanks..

Question: How are you going to run Kara if your character is not attuned? From your Keepers of Time rep, you haven't even run Durnholde yet. In terms of instances, I would say start there ;)

Looking at your rep in general, you have done very few instances. If you're not ready for heroics, you're not ready for Kara. You should be in all instance blues before you step foot in either Kara or heroics. Look at Aethian's pre-raid list thread and start running those instances.

is that trinket a typo on armory or what? 20ap 10hit seems like a lv20 trinket lol

that said id say you can go to kara, BUT you are on the border(ie try to upgrade a few slots before) and i doubt you will be the top dps in the raid, if you are i think you will find kara to be pretty difficult.

but go for it, you will never know unless you try and difficult just means more fun and joy :D

If you aren't ready for Heroics, you aren't ready for Kara. Run Heroics, replace your green gear and pick up 3 Primal nethers. Level up your LW and grind motes until you can craft the Ebon Netherscale crafted set. Replace crappy enchants like +8 STA and +120 Armor with enchants for Hunters. Work a lot on your Hit Rating, if you're supposed to be the heavy DPS you need to hit your targets. Bring lots of mana pots or Fel Mana pots, and drink them liberally.

It's a level 50 trinket, and should have been replaced before level 65. If it's the +Hit that's seeing you wear it, try the Terokkar Tablet of Precision.

First of all, try to replace as much of the green gear as you can. You could upgrade most of those in most heroics or even some normal instances.

And don't go into kara with full gladiator's gear.

Gear aside, Your build is a bit of. You don't need spirit bond for raiding, so put those two points into Animal Handler. +4% hit for your pet is nice for a bit of extra DPS. Get rid of Bestial Swiftness, it doesn't do anything for you in raids. As for your Improved AotH and Endurance Training... do 5/5 in hawk, and 3/5 in endurance training. It'll up your DPS and still give you a bit of extra HP.

And between Improved hunter's mark and Efficiency. Depending on your group's make up, you may want to consider taking hunter's mark. If you're in a group with a lot of physical damage, take it.

I'd say to gear you up for Kara, go for your trinket(s) first.
There are many trinkets with an on-use AP boost or a proc which yields AP out there.
Bladefists Breadth + Hourclass of the Unraveller are some very good trinkets out there, but there are others too.
There is a questline in Netherstorm which leads to a very good green quality trinket which you can get without any problems as a level 70 (clicky).
The next abvious thing would be your enchants: +12agi on cloak, get a shoulder enchant (you can buy the crit rating enchant from scryers), and put a metagem into your head piece.

That might be the few things you can upgrade till next week. The rest of the gear will then come piece by piece. You still need a lot of attack power. Your crit is ok for now. Your mana pool is a bit low, but you can compensate for that with some additional mana potions.
