A Warrior Turned Priest With A Few QuestionsFollow

So Today I hopped onto my priest for the first time in forever. As you might discern it was a major change from my warrior that I have been PvPing with lately to get all the s1 gear.

I decided though I didn't really want to play warrior anymore because they just seem a dime a dozen now, and priest was my next highest job.

So I thought what the hell?

Anyway it somewhat leads to my questions

Now I know from my experiences in BGs shadowpriests are quite tough but...

Question 1: I'm used to survivability, how much survivability can I expect?

Question 2: How much hp can a decently geared priest have at 70?

Thanks in advance :)

In my experience with my shadow priest in arena (2v2 and 5v5) I tend to get focus fired first in 75% of matches or more. Right now I have crappy gear which doesn't help, and we are less squishy than a mage, but probably have less survivability than your warrior. Not bad, but not great. We don't have many defensive skills.

I have 10k hp and I have crappy gear. I've seen many with 12k+ in arena gear.

On the other hand, disc priests are very tough to kill and are amazing pvp healers in the right hands.

Thou i´m a holy priest here are my quick answers.

1.) Quite a bit. Shadowform gives you -15% dmg reduction. With 3/3 in improved Inner Fire (Disc Tree) you should sit at roughly -40% dmg reduction thats quite a bit. Just keep your shield up in PvP and keep in mind that there are heals in your spell book ! :) A lot of spriests i see rather die then popping themself a heal,.. oh well.

2.) In my PvP-Set (Mix of S1 and S3 gear) i have 11.1k HP (buffed). Very well geared PvP Priests will hit 12k HP maybe a tic more.

/welcome to priesting :)

erm.. 2 things...

1. Shadowform is 15% dmg reduction from PHYSICAL dmg.

2. i have ~40% dmg reduction from physical dmg without 3/3 imp Inner fire.. and i'm only 62.

Well, my lvl 32 priest also has about 40%... it has to do with armor scaling with lvl etc. Make a lvl 10 mage, then compare it to the -physical- (there, I said it correctly, what did I win?) damage reduction of a lvl 70 mage in full greys; it will be more or less the same.

Arg, Armory keeps freezing my broswer and I lost my post >.<

Short version:

Shadowform is the closest thing to a working PvP taunt as there is. Best offensive and defensive dispel, 8-9 debuffs that will overwhelm other dispellers, shields, and mass dispel mean we're targetted first. You learn to rely on other fast.

Mitigation drops as you level, I was at 55% with shadowform at 60 and am at about 35% now. Least survivability except for PoM/Pyro mages, which are pretty much free kills in arena.

Be willing to heal in BG's, especially WSG. I spend 80% of every game trailing our flagrunner, healing him and keeping guys off him. In arena it's similar - if I get down around 30% health I throw PoM and renew on myself, and renew + binding heal on my partner. Getting off 2-3 binding heals basically means the other team loses if it was a close game.

I'm at 10.5k self-buffed in half-raiding gear (biggest PvP gear is Trial-Fire trousers with sta/dmg gems, S3 robe, S3 bracers/boots, and S2 dagger). In a 5v5 with warrior and pally, it could reach 12.4k. Where I to get full S3 gear plus the ring, neck, and trinket from SSC, I'd be be at about 12.6k self-buffed and 439res.

yes it was.. because it did add something to his comment... he said just:

i dunno about you.. but if i would read this for the first time and have not a great deal of experience with SP (not to say that i have "great experience") i would understand that is -15% to ALL dmg.. which is not true.. since Shadowform does nothing to Spelldmg. so again.. yes my comment was necessary.
