Best weapon enchant for druidFollow

#1 Dec 10 2007 at 1:18 PM Rating: Default
level 55 Balanced, with Warden Staff and Savagery enchant (+70 attack power)I put this enchant on my staff when I was still feral. Now that I am Balanced and quickly switching over gear; I figured it was time to change enchantments! I was thinking about Major Intellect (+30 Intellect). Any thoughts as to which enchantment would fit a balanced druid best! Thanks

+40 Spell Damage for sure. Int is overrated after you reach a certain level. The size of your mana pool lets you get an extra cast in at the start of the fight then has no effect as you rarely if ever get back to full mana. The Spell damage helps with every spell you cast.

Does that mean (for example)if you hit for 500 hit points it tacks on +40 more! Or does the +40 use a mathmatic effect that could be more than 40 extra hit points. Sorry for dumb questions, I have only been playing for 7 weeks now.

Also, does the +40 spell damage improve critical strike like +30 Intellect does. Or is it to small of a improvement to matter?

+40 SpellDmg will not affect crits, only SpellDmg. And while Int does affect SpellCrit, it's not a big enough difference in my opinion. (At level 70, it takes 80 Int for 1% SpellCrit)

As for the SpellDmg, it will indeed show as +40 on your character sheet. However, for all spells there is a formula. If you have +500 SpellDmg, it doesn't mean all your spells will do 500 more damage.

I suggest you check this page to get an idea of the percentage of your SpellDmg each of your spells get. It's pretty accurate.

Just to sum it up, it depends on the casting time of your spell. Your spell must take 3.5 seconds to cast for it to benefit from 100%. Talents do not affect this so the talent which reduces Starfire cast time will have no impact and Starfire will still get 100%.

For damage over time, it depends on the time the DoT lasts. It must last 15 seconds to get 100% of your +SpellDmg.

In both cases, you can use a direct formula to find out the percentage for all spells. For example, Wrath:
100% - 3.5 seconds
XX% - 2.0 seconds
2 * 100 / 3.5 = ~57%

I'm not half as knowledgeable as I appear, I just read WoWWiki when I'm in doubt.
But don't tell the others. >_>
