So I FINALLY got my Charger this weekend. I was soooo stoked!!!

Did the Scholo run with 5 Pallies (3 Prot, 2 Holy). It was awesome!!! And really really easy. I think it was the best group I've ever run with. Completely unstoppable (no squishies to worry about - so no one's health dropped fast). One guy bagged out right before the last part (with the 4 waves then boss). We tried for a while to get another to fill the spot, but had no luck. I was kinda nervous because I've heard that this part is really hard, and if you fail, you have to reset the instance.

Since we had no luck getting an extra, we decided to try that part with 4 Pallies (2 Prot, 2 Holy). Between 2 tanks, 2 off tanks, 2 healers, and 2 off-healers, and everyone wearing plate (i.e. no squishies again).....we kicked butt!!! We timed our judgements, and totally worked them. That was the most fun I've had in a while!!

It took me a total of 3 weeks to get the whole quest series completed...well worth it. And now, I have my Charger - which is AWESOME!!!!! I think it is the coolest looking land mount out there. And it's smokin (literally). Of course, it is pretty fast, so I have to try and avoid running into walls :)

Just wanted to share my joy with everyone!!!

Thanks to the wonderful folks that helped me out!!

Grats on your new mount. I had alot of fun getting my charger and I spent much less than other non-pallies on their epic mount.

Gratz!! I remember getting mine. It was my first epic mount and I took it for a "test drive" ... Took me a while to learn how to steer going that fast, LOL, but it was a lot of fun. Glad you feel it was worth it just like I did ^^

Grats, Mark!

I got mine last night, too! Helped a buddy pally in DM, then rounded up for Scholo. Me (66 - it took a while); 64 pally, 64 druid, 70 and 58 mage. It was nice not having to heal, as the druid took care of it. Also great having a 70 Mage (the 58 had some trouble), though it was no cakewalk.

We lost the 58 mage and druid about halfway through the fourth wave of spirits -- they died, and released. We were too busy dealing with spirits to try to rez them before they got back into the instance. Fortunately, we had enough firepower and healing power to defeat Darkreaver.

Great feeling to mount up and ride that charger!

First off, Grats!

Secondly...this is so discouraging!! lol

I just made lvl 60 and was looking forward to the faster mount, but 3 weeks?!?! That means I won't get it til next year!! (2008 haha!)

So my question, does this quest also increase your riding skill? Is there another easier way to do it? I have an epic mount (bought ram from brewfest :), but I need the higher skill to use it!

Yes it increases your riding skill. The easy way to do it is to start buying your mats around lvl 50 or so so you don't have to wait for the money when you ding 60.

Aside from that, hopefully you have a guild that will help you get your mount, or you've made friends who will run the old-world instances with you, cause that will be the hard part more than anything.

Frist, thanks to everyone for the "gratz".

Second, please don't let my story scare you. It only took me 3 weeks because I'm also leveling 2 alts, had no cash (spent it on lvl 60 spells - this is my main toon), and can only really run instances on weekend evenings. So I had to farm for cash, get groups for instances, and actually run them. Actual game time was under 12 hours (includes farming Thorium for cash).

Some tips that will make it faster:

Stratholme (you'll need 5 Strat Holy Waters - this took the longest for me)

1) Bring a dwarf. They can tell you which crates have Holy Water so you don't waste your time clearing mobs to useless crates.
2) When looking for group, pst some high level Pallys. They are more sympathetic to your cause and will probably help out (if your guild doesn't hook you up). If any Pally ever asked me, I would help in a heartbeat.
3) When looking for group, also let them know you only need the 5 Holy Waters, and don't need to run the entire instance. People might help you out if they don't have to spend 3 hours running the entire instance. You can get the Holy Waters in under 45 mins with a dwarf.
4) Try to make sure entire group is there to help you out. There is a quest in LHC (Light Hope Chapel) that also requires 5 Holy Waters. If everyone in the group has that quest, then you are in for the LONG HAUL, and may not even get your Holy Waters. This happened to me 2x. In those 2 runs, I only got 1 Holy Water. blech....

Dire Maul - get someone with key to West Wing. Then, it can be done in about 30-45 mins. Otherwise, you'll have to run the East wing to get key, and it will take much longer.

Scholo - If you don't have key, get someone with a key (or get key yourself through quest line in Western Plaguelands). Also, load up on Paladins if you can. That's all I can say - this instance (and quest) was created with Paladins in mind. We ran the Scholo part in about 1 hour.

All in all, if you don't need to farm for cash and have a group that will help you out (i.e. focus only on your agenda), then you can do it in under 5 hours of playtime.

Hope that helps.

Edit - Gratz on your mount meagherly!!

2nd Edit - Not to boost your ego too much... :) ...but thank you Cap'n/Overlord Jack. I followed your FAQ, and it was really helpful in getting mats ready for the quest series.

Another alternative to not having the keys if you have other people with you is sacrificing yourself and running to the other side of the door to open it. Since you are saccing yourself, you don't lose any durability and it's definately quicker than getting the actual key.

Yea i remmember my excitment when i got my epic mount. took me like a week to get it. once i dinged 60 i checked the AH for mats and got everything cept the 5 dark runes. went back couple days later and got 2 of them off there. then some guildies of mine ran scholo to get his dreadsteed and when they ran it got my other 3 runes from them. then with the help of a 70 druid,70lock,69rouge,63 pally and me 60 pally we went in the back entrance of the instance opened the door killed a few mobs went into chapel put candle out killed the spawns and got my mount :) the instance run took all of 10 min just waiting on summons lol.

Woot!!!

Join the brotherhood of the Paladin!

I too remember the hard work and such that went into getting my Charger.
Took me close to 4 weeks ( I'm also a casual player, between work and a father of 4).

Good to see another brother who went for the EM!

Congrats!

Grats on you're shiny new mount. I got mine yesterday (dreadsteed I'm a lock) and it feels like it toke ages to get it, but it's all worth it.

Reason I'm here in Pally forum is my only alt and I just hate the fact that I have chosen the 2 classes who needs to do massive q chain to get that mount. It's all fun but finding a group for it is a pain.

Looking forward to do my pally mount q chain...

I felt the long quest chain was part of what made it special (for me). I recall as I neared forty and peaked ahead on Thottbot, they had the 40 mount showing as part of a quest chain. I was a little disappointed that it was turned into a simple, trainable thing (of course, I was really happy to walk out of the Cathedral and mount up right there, no fuss, not muss).

I find that Scholo and Strat are lots of fun, and challenging (wasn't so crazy about Dire Maul, but we only went after Warpwood). It's too bad it's so hard to get a group for them these days.

Congratz! I loved the quest line to get my charger - the horse rocks! I found that the quests were way easy with a few level 70s from my guild. I don't recall even having a bit of trouble, we did everything in a few hours. The key is to have the money for the pay-offs and the arcanite has to be created in advance. Good luck to any others on this - it's well worth the effort.
