It was great! We made it to Shade in under four hours after official start time. The group wiped once on Shade and once on overpulled trash. I died a few other times out of newbie mistakes, but nothing big. We weren't overgeared or anything, it was the guild's fourth run in Kara, though I think I was the only one there for the first time.

I was so incredibly nervous, I couldn't sit still. But with everyone having done the research beforehand and staying calm, we one-shotted almost everything. The fact that we have an amazing main tank / main healer combo helped quite a lot.

I picked up the bracers from Attunmen and the cloak from Shade. We're going back to finish up tonight.

:) Happy Hunter! :)

**Edit**

Also, in this gear, I out damaged the other hunter I ran with (I was 1st, he was 3rd). Is pvp gear really that badly suited to pve? I thought for certain he'd wipe the floor with me.

Grats. :)

I suspect you beating him had as much to do with spec as gear. 41/20/0 Vs 41/0/20. Plus, you have more AP than he does meaning each of your shots hits harder, and your crits (because of spec) hit substantially harder.

I just ran Kara for the first time this week, too and had a blast. I went with my guild who has the entire raid memorized. Sadly, I didn't get anything from Attunmen (even though he drops three great pieces for hunters!), Nothing from Opera, even though we got the Wizard of Oz event (Legacy would have been a nice upgrade)... Actually nothing from any boss up until Curator, and I got my T4 gloves! I also finally got enough heroic badges to get the Blood Knight Warcloak, which looks REALLY badass with the beastlord mantle (and when I get the identical shoulders from Opera).

I also respecc'ed from MM to BM for the run and I stayed within the top 3 on the damage meter the whole time, even though I only had a few epics and nothing from Kara. My raid leader was pleased and wants me to run with them more often.

And about the PvP gear... Yeah, it may be epic, but it's awful for raiding. one of our DPS dropped from the raid, so we brought in a hunter with full PvP gear and a PvP BM spec, and I was wiping the floor with him.

Only the Vengeful Gladiator hunter gear is worthwhile for raiding. This is partly due to the addition of hit rating to 3/5 of it's items. Deck yourself out in that and you'll have a very strong set comparable and in some ways superior to even late SSC/TK. It may have item points "wasted" on resilience and stamina but being epic item level 146, its also got a massive budget to play with. You might end up lacking some intellect, mp/5 and pure attack power though, so you'll want to fill your other slots with items to compliment these missing stats.

More on-topic, I too had my first trip into Kara this week, where we downed the first 4 bosses without blinking then wiped twice on Netherspite :P I managed to get Beastmaw Pauldrons and Demon Stalker Gauntlets, the two worst items to get when you're using Pauldrons and Gauntlets of Desolation for the hit rating set bonus >.> Was hoping to get Wolfslayer so I wouldn't have to bother with ranged weapons until BT, but alas, got the tragic tale of Romulo and Julianne. I was top of dps throughout, though I can't really call myself undergeared with 4 crafted epics (two comparable to Tier 5 level gear).
