Which profession should I choose?Follow

O.K. before you freak out because this has been asked so many times hear me out. I want the best two professions for gear. Assuming gold is no object is leather working and engineering going to give me the best gear. I've searched through a lot of "which profession" posts but they all seem concerned with making gold.

I'm only interested in gear. You see I don't get a lot of time to do instances, and I'm not in a guild so I would like to be able to grind and craft most of my gear so that I'm not a scrub until I do get the opportunity to get some gear out of heroic's or kara or whatever.

Problem is that I'm not sure if these are the two best choices. I'm looking at the Ebon set from leather working. I realize some of those pieces take nethers but I'm not too worried about that for now. However I'm not sure about engineering. Do the really nice hunter patterns drop in instances? Are they BOP? Is there really anything that good in engineering to level it up? I said to assume gold was no object but I don't want to just throw it away for nothing. I would like to put it into a good investment. Thank you!

I don't really have much experience with LW, so I won't comment on that. For engineering, though, I'd suggest you don't look into it for "gear" as such. There are some engineering items that can be worn (goggles, the occasional gun and such) but these are often cloth items and not seemingly designed with good hunter stats.

Engineering is more about fun rather than clothing with stats. If you like having nice gadgets, like mechanical pets or small bombs to throw, then engineering is worth a look into. Thankfully, you're not looking into it for gold because your chances of making money with that skill are very low. It's something to do just for your own personal enjoyment.

For my hunter being a tauren, making myself tiny, and running around yelling "FEAR THE MIDGET TAUREN" was enough reason to do engineering.

Engineering if you have a nice income, or you sell what you mine every so often.
(Skinning, Herbalism, Enchanting) + Mining for money making. Enchanting will take a bit of work before it becomes profitable from selling mats.
LW would take a bit of work tho
