I just had a pretty strange experience in shattered hall. I tanked in there for the first time yesterday - without any problems what so ever. No wipes, no one died, no nothing (took 40 min). And thats the strange part. Last tine I was there was with my hunter, grinder for exhalted. I remember sh as exstremly hard, and that it needed alot of CC. We had a lock, hunter, mage and a holy priest healing. Eventhou we had it, we did not use CC at all. We even managed to pull a group of those "beserkers?" (those who are fighting eachother - practice) and the big group in the middle, without wiping (and no one died).
Just to make it clear - we had 4x lvl 70 and a lvl 69 - all of us in terrible gear (I'm uncrittable, but hardly overgearing the instance).

All this comes down to:

1) Paladin tanks are kick ***
2) Shattered hall have been nerfed hard since my last visit there (I remember it as a 3 hour run with wiping on every second group :P), and paladins are still kick *** cool

Sorry for this redicilous post, and for my crappy spelling (I'm bored and danish = stupid posts about nothing filled with bad spelling and grama)

Well, a paladin tanks just as well as a warrior does, except he can also heal himself, and become invulnerable.

So, yeah, tankadin = pwn. That's your mathematical proof right there.

Shattered halls is probably the best place for a level 70 protection paladin. Lots of mobs with medium health and lower-end damage. No abilities to make you lose focus (ie. intimidating shout) so nothing a paladin can't handle easily. I still don't think paladins are the best tanks though.

Of course you don't.

and @Ze, that's not the reason why paladins are awesome.

Shattered Halls has been nerfed really hard. I tanked it on my warrior way back around BC'd release, and just tanked it with my fresh still-crittable 70 pally this past weekend. The fact that I could go in there with only 455 defense and succeed is a testament to how much it's been nerfed. Hell even the boss crit me a couple times and I didn't die.

However, the average gear level of people who are trying that dungeon has gone way up. I'll probably take some karma dings here but the accessibility of PvP epics means that the average person will hit harder, and be able to take more damage, than what the original group in Shattered Halls used to have.

Finally, there's dungeon knowledge. People know what all the trash and bosses do now. People know (or should) what targets to prioritize on. When the first boss goes into crazed shadowbolt whirlwind mode, people expect it. When entering the final hall before the boss, people know there are stealthed mobs in there. Nobody tries to stop in the middle of the archer gauntlet anymore. Things like that are what made the first runs so hard.

Well I tried SH with warrior and druid tanks and didn't even get to the first boss.

Then I went in with a Pally (about a week after the previous attempts) and breezed through all the way to Kargath without losing anyone. Although I must say the Pally was one of the best tanks I have ever seen, I still think Pallys rule!

I've actually stopped differentiating on what class a person is relative to how good of a tank they are. When I will again have that luxery I'll be quite happy, but for now I'm more or less resigned to, "Does this player play a good tank or not? Does he play his class well? Does he tank well?"

Sadly, most often that answer is, "No. Oh, sweet Jesus, no. Somebody go find a real tank."

posts like these make me want to quit wow for a month or two when the new expac comes out so i dont have to deal with broken balances.

i know when i tanked Shat in my entry lvl 70 gear, those gladiator fellows killed me in about .5 seconds. pretty much every time. then i went back decked out in most of my tank gear that i had on my list of to-do's and it was a breeze.

dont know if they nerfed it in the time i got my gear. or if my gear just sucked that bad.
