Dropping BS for enchanting?Follow

#1 Dec 08 2007 at 6:45 PM Rating: Decent
I currently have blacksmithing at 360 and i had raised it to be able to get the mace obviously. Well I managed to get drakefist but i never really got the necessary nethers to make dragonmaw. When s3 hit i just went and got both of the s1 maces since my offhand also sucked. Since I only really got bs for the maces and no longer gonna go for it i was wondering if dropping it and picking up enchanting for possibly the ring enchants would be a good idea. Was just curious of peoples thoughts on it.

Also another question just so i don't ask about it in another thread i currently have a little over 11k health and when i get the s3 pieces with sockets and such if i should instead of going for health putting atk power to increase my dmg. Example being atk power enchant and 16 atk gem on bracers instead of health. If it helps any here is my armory.

Ok couldn't get the link to work right in the preview so not gonna put it in however my character is Liru on the Crushridge server.

BTW sorry for the wall of text.

What about the weapon chain? A lot of good PvPrs like to have it on their offhand, though now it reduced effects by 50% instead of immunity I believe.

Enchanting the rings would be a nice bonus, not sure if it could replace the weapon chain. I was thinking of taking both bs and enchanting for s3.

Too much health is overkill. You are still a damage dealer at heart. Find a point where you think you have enough health/resilience then start getting atk pwr. Currently I think it is 10.5k health-ish.

I like having my enchanting, but I am pretty sure that most of the "good" chants come from PvE content, so look at where the scrolls drop from and make sure they are things that you are going to run.

I am hitting that problem now, as I won't get in to any end-game PvE stuff, and my chanting is falling stagnant.

Well the thing is i have yet to see anybody with the weapon chain plan on my server so i haven't had any luck. Once i get the s3 mace offhand i will plan on really doing some looking instead of just occasionally asking in trade or checking ah. Besides i realize it would help but since they are only s1 and hopefully in a few weeks will have s3 maces. As for having it myself it would be nice but i can just get the mats myself and have some make/install them for me. It just means i have to find somebody with the plans.

I just checked and both melee oriented ring enchants seem to be easy enough they are vendor bought and i can get into kara easily enough.

Anyways thank you both for your advice i prob will get enchanting and start trying to stack more atk power.

If you want the absolute best stats at end game, Enchanting/Jewelcrafting is best. You get the BoP gems and ring enchants. There are no BoP LW or BS items that won't be replaced by good old boss drops.

If you don't expect to ever run end game content, well, there are some really nice crafted items for you. Blacksmithing is pretty lackluster for a Rogue, though. The mace is the only thing worthwhile out of the whole profession for us.

Latro's shifting sword is better.

Arena Season 1 sword is better. (which can be aquired for a measly 9000 honor points)

Akil'zons talonblade is A LOT better.

And both S2 and S3 offhands are WAY better for 900-1100'ish arena points.

Anyway, to answer to OPs question:

If you are a min/maxer I would definately go for enchanting. The ring enchants are good and will give you 8 more agi, str, and stam which is quite good.

However, if you can live without the small statboost I would keep Blacksmithing for the XPac as mentioned earlier. Blizz stated that they wanted professions to give some nice gear for leveling in WotLK, so I'm pretty sure you'll be glad you started with 375 BS instead of starting all over from 0 because you wanted +16 extra attack power on your rings ;)

A quick question.
Due to the fact that most daggers are fairly fast, even the slow ones..
would it be better for a combat daggers rogue to get +4 stats or +2 weapon damage on their rings, just asking incase i decide to change my rogue to enchanting

4 stats comes out to be better, IIRC.
