Which breastplate should I wear?Follow

Up until today I've used http://www.wowhead.com/?item=25819

Breastplate of the Warbringer, but I've kept looking for something better.

Today I did a couple of Arca runs and a Mech run and both of these dropped:

http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28205

Breastplate of the Bold

and:

http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28262

Jade-skull Breastplate

I'm not sure what I want to lose really. The Warbringer-one has over half my hit rating, the bold one has got good stats if I gem it up (extra dodge) and the latter has got a lot of strength which is much needed.

Current unbuffed stats (the armory doesnt update as often as I'd like):

650 AP
54 Hit
14,000 HP
12,500 armor
32% dodge + parry
494 defense

These stats are with dps boots (I have no decent tanking boots, I may try for the ones in Botanica) and I'll get the exalted with Shat'ar shield soon, plus I lack some gems and enchants which I could balance it out with.

I want to do heroics and maybe even Kara soon, so I gotta know what's best for me.

Any tips would be very nice.

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot, I'm exalted with the aldor as well, so I could buy the Aldor Breastplate too... :)

you're more than ready for heroics and kara. You don't have any shortcomings ATM, just keep stacking more armor SRAM and avoidance.

Link your toon please? I want to see how you got those numbers (especially Stam) with pre-kara gear.

I can't unfortunately. Damn armory is down again. I can write it all down here easy enough though.

Wep: Fireguard
Shield: Aegis of the Sunbird (Botanica-one)
Chest: 1 out of 3
Legs: Timewardens Leggings
Shoulders: Bold (SL)
Head: Helm of the Stalwart Defender
Hands: Gauntlets of the Iron Tower
Feet: Sha'tari Wrought Greaves (weak spot)
Waist: Sha'tari Vindicators Waistguard (from quest in SL)
Wrists: Bracers of the Green Fortress
Back: Cloak of Eternity
Neck: Cenarion Revered one
Ring: Eternium Sentry Band and Protectors mark of redemption
Trinket: Furies deck + Lunacy deck

---

Any tips on my breastplate still? :)

ok now I see where the stam is coming from. Those trinks and epic boe's help a lot. Grats on the shoulders, I ran SL at least a dozen times for that and no drop.

You don't have any gaps that need filling so I would stick with what you have or take the bold chest and gem that according to what you need. I would definitely keep all of them in case you need one stay over another.

o.O btw you must be rich. All that stuff on my server could easily cost a few thousand gold.

I spent two weeks just farming mats for the crafted items, it doesn't take that long really, and when you have them it's just about 100g for the nether and you're set :)

As far the decks, I got a few lucky drops and thought to myself, "hell, why not?" and bought out the rest over a few weeks. With proper analyzing and checking the Ah regularly you get both the decks for about 1000g each I would think.

I think I'm gonna go for the Breastplate of the Bold and gem it up properly. It's not going to happen before tomorrow though, so any input could still prove useful.

the jadeskull breastplate is your best mitigation chest.

breastplate of the warbringer is your best offensive chest.

breastplate of the bold gives you flexibility with itemization if you are low on one stat or the other, since you can stack stam gems for more stam or parry/dodge gems for more avoidance.

that's it.

I rolled with the vindicators chest for a long time. It's hard to beat the dodge and defense rating it.

But for kara, you should try to use all of them in different situations. Some mobs require more mitigation, some mobs require more avoidance.

I'm jealous of the jade-skull breastplate, I wanted that for a long time before I got the panzer-chest from nightbane.

Hehe, I'll keep you posted if it drops on the first runs. The def ring from arca and the chest from mech did :)

Update:

The boots dropped on the second run :) So my unbuffed hp is 14300 now.

Also, I did my first heroic today (mechanar) and the Sun Eater dropped. Wondering about slapping a mongoose on it and using that instead of the fireguard so I can get even more stam gems where my def gems are.

Also, I'm about 1900 rep away from exalted for the Sha'tar Shield. Might try for the SV cloak tomorrow :)

Gratz. You are a kind of player I love to see in my guild. You know what you want and you work for it. You don't expect to be given epics.
I saw countless aplications " I am 70 from yesterday - I need epics - give please" type.

As for cloak I used Cloak of Eternity for a long time. I tanked all Kara using it and later all Gruul Lair and later VR and some SSC. I switched it with Badge one recently - 35 badges if I am correct. Still I am DPS warrior and tank only when no other tank is avialable.
I love stamina on that crafted blue and wouldn't change it for more defence.

Last patch opened new posibilities for self improvement. Check tanking gear from badge vendor. Leg piece for example is simply amazing. Cloak as I mentioned above is very nice too... Go and see if you can't choose some for you.

Oh and one more thing. Don't forget to gather some DPS gear. You never know what you will need.... Besides You are ready to tank all Kara and more now anyway.

Just got to add here that the Devilshark Cloak also dropped in my first run through Steamvaults, boosting my avoidance to nearly 34% :P

I've started getting heroic badges now, I've finished Sethekk Halls, Slave Pens and Mechanar so far, getting a total of 19 badges.

Is the 75-badge leggings what I should be looking at? I have the Timewardens Leggings now.

I have a couple of new questions regarding gear if someone has got the time to reply :)

Tanking shoulders, should I wear my:

Shoulderguards of the Bold http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27803

or my new:

Fanblade Pauldrons: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27847

And for DW dps, should I wear:

Sha'tari Wrought Greaves: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28176

or my new:

Bloodworn Warboots: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27788

Thanks again for your help :)

That might actually be a good idea. I haven't really looked into the pvp gear for dps as I consider it as pretty "useless" for tanking.

As for the drop luck, yes, I've been very lucky :)

After I've respecced to tanking, I've had.

Sun-Eater on first attempt
Shoulderguards of the Bold on the first attempt
Devilshark Cloak on the first attempt
Fanblade Pauldrons on my first attempt
Jade-Skull Breastplate on second attempt
Kara-ring on second attempt
Botanica-boots on second attempt

Only thing that I've tried for that hasn't dropped for me yet is the boots from BF Heroic, but I've only done it twice. :)
