Shadow Priest in need of help...Follow

#1 Dec 07 2007 at 8:37 AM Rating: Decent
Greetings all,

I've just returned from a really long WoW break and decided to work on my level 42 Shadow Priest. I'm not sure if its rust, but I seem to be having some trouble soloing. I remember be able to solo with ease prior to my leaving. I'm wondering if I should re-spec to a Holy or Holy/Disc build to up my survivability and perhaps help my chances of finding a group. Any thoughts?

Also if I do re-spec can anyone suggest where to place points?

Thanks!

Shadow is still the leveling tree. Make sure your talents haven't all been reset to 0 due to a patch.

Yeah my talents are all there. I think I'm just a bit rusty. My gear, if I remember correctly, was just upgraded before I took a break.

Can any one suggest the best place to grind for a 42 Shadow Priest. Right now I'm in Feralas and it isn't going too well.

Thanks!

try tanaris. if you're alliance, feralas doesn't have a lot to offer. horde, on the other hand, have many kill quests in feralas.

in addition, grinding may not be your fastest leveling method. the latest patch buffed the xp you get from quests from level 20-60. quest stacking may get you to 70 faster.

Ah ok...I'll stack up a bunch more of these Feralas kill quests.

I didn't realize quests exp. was raised. This very good to know...thanks!

Is it just me or does leveling with a Shadow Priest sort of remind you about the first time you tried Drain Tanking with your Warlock?

I apply Shadow Word: Pain and Vampiric Embrace or whatever it's called. About now the mob is in my face, hitting me, so Mind Flay sort of lost its mana efficiency right there, didn't it? I rarely use Power Word: Shield because VE along with SWP and the occasional Mind Blast is enough to keep me afloat.

Usually this is how I engage a mob:

SWP
VE
MB
Wand
Wand
Wand, yeehaw!
Wand

Proceed.

Ps. I'm level 43. Lowbie, I know. Does Mind Flay get more viable later on? Right now I only get in two of the three ticks if I use Mind Flay after SWP and VE. The mob simply gets too close, too fast.

Ok so now a new question. I was going over my gear which is mostly Blue, but only add + to spells and healing spells. The highest is my chest piece peace, which is the Dreamweave Vest. Now I'm a Tailor and I can make 3 of the Shadowweave items (Chest, Gloves and Pants). These are much lower in level (lowest 38 and I'm 42), but seem to add substantial amounts of + Shadow damage. Should I create these and use them while soloing?

Thanks!
