Feral. Tank and DPS in one spec, really awesome.

I already have a 70 Pally as a healer, but otherwise I'd strongly consider making a second Druid and make him Resto for end-game. Such awesome healers, great for float heals in raids and truly amazing abilities suited for PvP healing.

But yeah, <3 Feral. Remains my favorite spec.
Resto is pretty cool too.
Balance sounds nice, but I haven't tried it after BC. Seems more like a PvP spec to me, but interesting nonetheless.

Plagiarism aside, and acknowledging that this is a total personal preference quesion, I agree 110% with Selv, even if I don't really know what "float heals" means. : )

I'd add that in addition to being a great Tank and DPS in one spec, druidic versatility and a nice healing set means I can still blow people away and sve the day with my ability to heal in a pinch.

I like Feral best, mostly as cat for dps. But I do enjoy to heal when I have a good group together. It's really fun to see that you are the reason why everyone is still alive, lol.

I haven't hit end game yet, but this is a painful question for me. I love being a feral druid. Best class for soloing I've played post level 30. It's just so much fun.

But I could never stay feral and group, and it's my understanding that once you hit end game there's not a lot to do if you don't work and play well with others. I hate tanking, plus I suck like you read about. OTOH I love healing and it's really the only group role I'm interested in (though haven't done it with my druid). But I don't want to give up my feralness. Feralocity. Feralsomeness.

My plan when I hit 70 is to level up my professions and farm gold for epic flying skill and funding alts. If I ever get that far and the next expansion still isn't out, I'll consider respeccing Resto then.

Wow, way to talk about myself and not answer your question. I guess my point is, it's a good question, and a very hard one. :) There are so many great things about being a druid that when you get to the higher levels and need to specialize more it becomes hard to choose one thing at the expense of another.

Resto Druids are sweet.

I personally think that they are the best save your *** healers for raids with tranquility (if they have the talent that makes it have no threat). Feral tanks are nice too, but on some fights having a warrior with a shield is just more advisable.

I have yet to see, in my guild so not saying they dont' exist, a DPS feral druid and to be honest I don't really think they would have a place. I say this not because I don't think they are good, but there are just too many other classes who DPS and can't do anything else (Rogue, Mage, Hunter, Warlock come to mind) which leaves no room for a feral DPS druid simply because if specced and geared right druids make awesome tanks or awesome healers, both of which are in shorter supply than DPS.

I think feral druids become less attractive/common in DPS slots in parties not because of how common and "restricted" the DPS classes are, but because they AREN'T as restricted in terms of crowd control. They are really DPS+CC whereas we are just DPS. I can crank out as much damage as most comparably equipped DPS classes, and I take opportunities to DPS in an instance when they come along, but I don't actively seek them out because I know that when I'm tanking I'd much rather see one of those "pure DPS" classes in my party than a fellow feral druid because of crowd control. Hell, even if I'm doing DPS I hope I'm the only CC-less DPSer.

That said, what's nice about feral is that you can tank for parties and still have wicked damage output for soloing and PvP.

My Druid is Resto specced but as said before depending on your gear you can do alot. Yes my regular gear is meant for the healing that I usually do, but I have run as an Offtank/DPS in a few groups in bear/cat form for fun. Nothing amazing but having a feral set of gear has helped me be able to switch roles when I want to or need to...even if I am not mainly specced into that role. (my hubby has a Prot warrior and depending on a group I usually assist him in one way or another). I enjoy the veratility of our class and am glad I decided to stick it out.

On my guild, we have 2 feral MT/OT, some resto (I think that we have 3 or 4), a moonkin, and a feral DPS spot (the balance one was feral dps, but switched). Feral DPS, if you actually work as a Druid and not a rogue(meaning you sometimes switch form for a innervate/bash/whatever), can be really good. As a druid you bring so much to the party that I think it's kind of a waste to not have one.

That being said, I don't think most of the guilds have one, and if they do, they don't usually raid with more then one feral DPS. One is nice and good, more than that, it would be a waste of DPS spot.

"Float heal" is usually the term people in my guild use when you're raiding and not assigned to a particular tank. You just cast heals on anyone needing it.

So as a Resto Druid you can just drop one or two HoT's, like Lifebloom, and let them work their magic as you start putting them on another raid member. You're pretty much patching everyone.

Resto Druids are also great at pre-healing a tank before he runs into a boss fight.

Certainly, at Karazhan level, we always welcome good feral druids. My DPS has always been in the top few in the guild. I'm out main OT but have also MT'd everything in Karazhan except Nightbane (still reckon I can do this with 3 priests healing- Fear Ward FTW).

I have also acted as out 3rd healer (while feral specc'd) occasionally when we are a bit short (particularly to keep the AOE guys alive for the AOE pulls.

On top of this, anytime needed, I can respec and be one of our main healers.

When you get to end-game, druids may not be quite as common, but certainly at the T4 (T5?) level they are as good as similarly geared/skilled players of other classes.

The lack of CC in 5 mans can be an issue for us. Having said that, in Shattered Halls when you have the massive group pulls, cc'ing a single target is not much help. Being able to switch to tanking gear and off-tanking 2-3 mobs can really help (along with a feral charge to grab loose mobs hitting clothies).

I love feral too, for pretty much the reasons mentioned. In our Kara runs we try to have a warr MT and feral OT so the druid can be DPS'ing when only 1 tank is needed. On Gruul, ferals are great and we usually have 2 or 3.

I'm balance spec at the moment though while our guild is on xmas break from raiding, so trying it out in pvp and it rocks. It'll be hard to go back to to raiding as feral (not too hard tho ^^)

At the end of the day, I don't think I have any one favourite. I just love being a druid. For just a few gold I can switch between a potent end game healer, a respectable tank that's dealt with every raid boss up to and including Gruul or a pvp machine with 5K starfires ;) who wouldn't want to be a furry friend :)

Not only is it not like that at 70, it shouldn't be like that at 68 -- you're clearly grouping with weakass DPS.

I run around as a BOOMkin druid. I have no problem with healing or feral and I have done both at one point or another. However, I love being a Boomkin. I can and have on several occasions out dps'd all but my guilds top rogues throughout Karazhan. Soloing anything is easy and if I need it I can pop out for a sec and heal myself.

That being said I still keep my 4 sets of gear up to date as much as possible. I can manage over +1300 healing in my healing gear, 19.9k armor and 13k health in bear, cat is still around 2000 AP and all this even while specced for Boomkin. One never knows when the mood to switch to a different aspect of the druid will come along and I like to be prepared. :)
