Lvl 70 PetFollow

#1 Dec 07 2007 at 4:47 AM Rating: Default
My lvl 70 hunter just tamed a nethermine ravenger which is also lvl 70.

Question: Will this pet eventually get training points as his loyalty levels....or not since he is the same level as myself?

Yeah, he will still get the points. The points are based on some formula involving the pet's level and loyalty.

Basically, s/he doesn't have to level to get points.

Hope that makes sense!

Your pet will gain points as it gains loyalty levels. At level 70, it will gain 70 points per loyalty level. No one seems to know how, exactly, they gain loyalty levels (as in, what the formula is), and there are different theories about how to make it gain levels faster, but just use it for a while and it will eventually max out.

Training points = (loyalty lvl -1) x hunter lvl.

Actually one of the links on Petopia discusses this very thing(sorry can't check to link myself right now, so working off of memory).

The formula includes both xp and time.

Something like if your loyalty level is at 1, you have to have your pet for 30 minutes and earn 1% of the xp needed to level in order for it to gain the next loyalty level.

Then in order to get to loyalty level 3 you need to have had your pet for 1 hour and earned 5% of it's xp needed to gain the next level.

Even though you are at the level cap, there is still a to-next-level, xp requirement for both you and your pet, so it goes off of that number.

I'll look for it in a little while when I get more free time at work.

Here didn't take that long.

This is written by Mannia, the editor of Petopia, so I would like to believe there is credibilty to the theory.

Something which isn't mentioned anywhere is the play off between level and loyalty.

If you tame a level 70 pet, it will take a long time to gain loyalty.
If you tame a level 69 pet it will take a lot less time to get to best friend (some people report it's nearly twice as fast).

So in some situations it may be better to tame a 69 pet than a 70 pet, as they will be more useful sooner (you get far greater amount of points from a loyalty gain than you do from a level gain).
A fully trained 69 pet is more desirable in some situations to a 70 pet with half the skills.

Gee, I have been playing my ravenger today for hours farming primals on the elemental plateau. Sadly, he is still lvl 1 rebellious. :-(
