blacksmithing specialization for holy pallyFollow

#1 Dec 06 2007 at 11:12 PM Rating: Decent
I have no clue. i'm trying to find the available recipes, but can't find them with google search. thotbot gives me all the recipes, but I can't tell which one is swordsmithing.

I'm thinking about doing swordsmithing, or will armorsmithing be better for holy pally?

None of the specialties really do you much good as a holy paladin. Honestly blacksmithing in general doesn't do you much good as a holy paladin, at least until you get into Black Temple, and even then, the only good stuff is 2 recipes which I don't think is worth the pain of leveling BS 1-375. That having said, armorsmithing is more a tanking thing, so I'd go one of the weapon smiths.

yeah I heard it wasn't great for holy pally. It's not something I am going to rely on, but would like some benefit. I'm not going to change profs at this point.

Are there any swords with + healing on them? I didn't think of that. I might have to go macecrafting even though I prefer to use a sword. Can anyone say if swords have +healing in the higher levels?

No epic crafted ones, and I don't think there are any, tbh, other than spell damage and healing ones.

I don't think there are ANY crafted epics with healing on it (mace, sword, or otherwise) until you get into black temple, then you have 1 bracer and 1 shoulder. Actually that's not true, there's a non-bt crafted bracer, but the badge bracers are better and so its not worth farming for.

Hand of Eternity is a good healy 1H mace, and does not require specialization (i.e. don't need to be weaponsmith).

To answer your question:
In thottbot, when you move pointer over item, it will tell you if you require specialization or not (i.e. "Requires Master Swordsmith" or something like that). It is right under the "Level Requirement" to use the weapon. Hope that helps.

There is a rep reward sword from CoT rep that has +121 bonus healing and +stam and +intel on it plus a +spell crit strike.

I use it for a 1H weapon for soloing and I slapped a +30 int enchnat on it too.

That's a spell damage/healing sword called the [wowitem=29185]Continuum Blade[/wowitem], and that's spell HIT rating, not spell CRIT rating. You can find better greens for healing.

There's this site called allakhazam that lists all the available trade skills (including blacksmithing recipes!) and segregates them by which specialization is required to make them (e.g., Weaponsmithing, Armorsmithing, Master Hammer/Sword/Axesmithing).

It's really been a lot of help to me!

As best as I can tell, none of the blacksmithing plans that require specialization are of any benefit to holy paladins.

Correct. My mistake on going from memory.

Dawnsteel Bracers

Dawnsteel Shoulders

Absolutely yummy, and looks are the primary reason I will be getting these. The bracers are BoE, which I just looked at and was quite surprised, but the shoulders are BoP. The exact reverse is said for the plans.

So assuming that information is correct, you can get the two without having to do BT.

I will no doubt at some point level blacksmithing to 375 in the future, simply for those two items. I am a holy pally with blessed bracers, and T3.5 shoulders. If I were to get better shoulders from Kara and they didn't look as good, sorry I won't wear 'em, lol.

Sounds messed up, but when you figure out this "gold" business, "If you will it, it is no dream" (Theodore Herzl).
