I've checked the FAQ and the WoW wiki but couldn't find the answer.

According to the wiki, shield slam is only affected by your block value and can be used even when disarmed. I know it can miss and it does sometimes but on very rare occasion. I didn't do anything extensive testing but i would say that shield slam miss probably 1 times out of 10 maybe even less.

Recently i started running ramparts and blood furnace. As most of you know, there's lot of warrior mobs in there and their disarm is not on a 1 minute CD.I get disarmed sometimes 4-5 times in a fight which gets pretty annoying since i can't use most of my abilities while disarmed... except shield slam! Problem is,shield slam seems to ALWAYS miss when i'm disarmed. I say always but it's not entirely true but it misses a lot, way more often than usual.

So does anyone knows if shield slam is also affected by say your attack power or anything that would explain why my hit rate with shield slam goes from 90+% with weapon and maybe 10% while disarmed?

Thanks to anyone who can clear that out for me

It should only miss at your current miss rate. Are you sure your not getting a debuff? or you have very low unarmed skill?

Your unarmed skill is what you would use to hit things while disarmed.

Level it up.

Hmm ... well that makes sense although my unarmed skill is not too far from cap
but i guess coupled with some bad luck and the fact mobs were a bit higher than me, it is probably why i was missing so much. just never occured to me that my unarmed skill came into play while disarmed(now i feel stupid since it seems so logical lol)

Thanks for the answer, that was very helpful.

Well, weapon skill does effect your chance to hit. Logicially it shouldn't make a difference with Shield Slam, but mixing Blizzard and Logic is like mixing Windex and Tile Cleaner to make sure something gets really clean.

It seems like a good idea at first, right up until you realize you've managed to create chlorine gas and are quite possibly about to die.
