Gladiator's Greatsword vs. Lionheart BladeFollow

Help! I'm currently a 66 MS/fury (gonna be 31/30 at 70) sword specced warrior. I've been pouring most of my gold lately into getting blacksmithing up to 350 so I can make a Lionheart Blade for when I finally hit 70. A few days ago, however, I found out that you can now buy S1 arena gear as honor rewards. Yes, I'm a noob for not hearing about this sooner.

From running AV for a few hours this morning, I've already got the marks of honor I need, as well as 8k honor. Apparently, getting the gladiator's greatsword wouldn't be that much of a challenge.

Here come the questions: Is there really any reason why I'd want the lionheart blade over the gladiator's greatsword? The latter has more damage, more stamina, more crit, and more hit. Would the extra AP and fear resist on the lionheart blade make it worth my while? Or are there any other factors that I'm forgetting?

Instead of going weaponsmithing, go armorsmithing for the Bulwark of Kings. That is, if you're SET on swordsmithing. If you absolutely want to stay sword spec, then don't bother going for lionheart blade. Its too fast for my tastes, the top end isnt too impressive. Bulwark of kings is about t4 quality, maybe a little less. A 3.6 speed gladiator weapon would be better.

However:

If I were you, I would do this. I would go mace spec. Mace spec is generally agreed to be one of the better pvp weapon specs, a little better than swords imo. Thunder, then Deep Thunder are definitely worth skipping the season 1 honor weapons for. 3.8 speed... Deep thunder also has the additional proc on the weapon itself. Lionheart? Not so much.

I probably should have pointed out that I PvP extremely rarely, and I'm interested almost exclusively in PvE. I'm not raiding yet, but I someday hope to be.

If you want to pve then go armorsmith. If you absolutely want a wep spec (or just dont fell like lvling BS again) then go mace for the thunder. MOST warriors do tanking then on weekends or w/e they go pvp spec where deep thunder will shine. and you can get easy weps for tanking such as sun eater.

So if you want to be a BS wepsmith then mace ftw!

mace spec for dragonstrike or whatever its called.

If you want to raid DPS you're going to want to [have to] go DW fury.

the fear resist on the lionheart is negligible. warriors already have fear breaks. the resilience on the S1 blade is nice. Another note is that for d/w, the one hand weapons from BS are ONE HAND not MAIN HAND. So you can make the T2 BS wep and the T1 wep, and d/w them. Or the T3 and T2 and d/w them.

The gladiator one hand weapons are generally superior. Slower or faster, more stats.

Well, the swords are. The Planar Edge and Drakefist hammer are both MH only. And dual-wielding two super fast swords is generally considered very stupid outside of execute spam, now isnt it. :P

For 2h PvE DPS, sword spec is the way to go. But go armorsmithing and pick up the gladiator's sword, its slower for harder hitting whirlwinds and extra attacks.
