Oathkeeper or Crystalforged War Axe?Follow

#1 Dec 06 2007 at 8:23 AM Rating: Decent
I'm a ret pally and i'm turning 68 soon! I have both The Oathkeeper lvl 68) and the Crystalforged War Axe (lvl 69)! My question is simple, which one is better between The Oathkeeper and the Crystalforged War Axe for a ret pally? Thanks!

they're both good weapons for ret. i've focused my ret on melee stats for the most part, so i'd cast my vote to the 80 AP and 27 crit rating of Crystalforged War Axe. the oathkeeper is a solid ret weapon too and has nearly as much ap and the int is handy for a ret. hopefully tommyguns throws his advice in here, but crystalforged was axe is how i'd go.

Well since Crusader Strike is being changed to no longer benefit from Spell Damage, I'd go with the Axe. Plus, The Oathkeeper has never struck me as a particularly 'impressive' weapon, it looks like a giant block of candy. The Axe looks cool, hits harder right now and will hit even harder next update.

There's also the simple fact, if you've got your heart set on a spelldmg two-hander you can get War-Torn Battleaxe from an SMV group quest instead, which is free and nearly as good.

i dont like either :D. crystal is too slow and oathkeeper has soso stats. either way they will get you similar results, so keep what you have soulbound and AH the other.

then get your BS lvl'd for some Thunder action cuz it'll be awhile before you get Gorehowl or an arena 2H.

My Holy Paladin got Gorehowl on her first Kara. Smiley: grin

Also 6 or 7 pieces of healing gear.

How precisely can a 2H be 'too slow' for Retribution?

Thunder for instance is a 3.8. Crystalforged is 3.5. that 0.3 makes quite a difference on openning hits, procs and CS instants.

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt, since you know more about being ret than me. I was thinking "Hey, maybe Tommy knows that being too slow is a bad thing because of some crazy math that I never bothered to read"

Guess I should just stop doing that then =P

Don't tell me that, I've just unlearned BS to get back to skinning after all the money that I've spent to lvl it to almost 200! :P I'll go with Crystalforged War Axe until I find something better! Between the two it's probably the best one for the moment! Thanks all!
