So after about 30+ runs of Slabs I picked up Sonic Spear late last week on my hunter. Last night in Kara I also got Legacy from The Crone during the Opera Event.
I notice a drop in stats from the Sonic Spear on my BM hunter. I do have a +35 Agi chant on the spear but there seemed to be quite a drop. (I'm at work so I can't get the exact numbers)
Is it true that Legacy is only better for MM spec hunters or is it great for BM too? Is it worth putting the +35 Agi onto this and then seeing if it's better? Just don't want to waste the mats.

+46 Stamina
Equip: Increases attack power by 80.
Equip: Restores 8 mana per 5 sec.
120 ap when counting Agility. Add crit from agility as well.
Sonic Spear:
+35 Agility
+30 Stamina
Equip: Improves hit rating by 24 (1.52% @ L70).
Equip: Increases attack power by 62.
97 ap when counting Agility. Lower crit added from Agility.
So in short, Legacy will in every single way beat Sonic Spear, unless you are really, really +hit starved. Legacy is very hard to upgrade this side of true End-Game, after all, so this shouldn't come as a surprise.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll be getting that enchant now. Maybe I wasn't reading the stats right because of how late it was when it dropped. Who knows..

It depends on your hit rating, I personally wouldn't go below 120 if I could help it. At least for raiding. Since you got 35agi on Spear too, if you are under hit rating cap without spear, just use spear on bosses and axe on other things, if you are quite undercap, I'd use SS all the time.
Meanwhile you should be saving Arena points for the 1k axe.
