I was just grinding out one of those kill X of Y quests in Tanaris with my 44 Priest and one of the mobs dropped the Staff of Jordan. I'm a smiter priest and I try to stack +spell damage (have about 215 now). I really like the staff and it would be an upgrade over my current weapon (hypnotic blade and book of the adept). In fact it looks like a perfect fit for me (+int, +spi, +spell dmg).
That being said, I could use the cash too.
Are there better weapons for a (smiter) priest in the 49 BGs bracket that are either easily obtained or affordable? I ran ZF five times last weekend trying to get the vexing cane with no luck. SoJ seems like an even better fit for my build.
Would you keep this and be happy, or sell it and fund other alts? I don't have any problem making gold, but this could be a huge windfall as well.
Ugh, the choices! I'm leaning towards keeping it, but am really curious what other priests would do.

If you're planning on hanging out in the 49 bracket for a long time and twinking yourself then sure keep it. But if you're going to start leveling again soon enough I would just sell it. I like having as much gold as I can get my hands on :D That said, I do have a Glowing Brightwood Staff that has been sitting in the bank waiting for an alt to level for quite some time ... so perhaps I shouldn't be giving advice! haha
i'd sell it. you'll have & use your epic riding mount longer than you would use that staff.
Staff of Jordan is 100% a twink item. It's GREAT and will take you a while to outgrow it if you use it, but you will eventually.
The stats are by no means necessary for any sort of PVE, they're just a nice bonus. By selling it you're already well on your way to having cash for your Epic Mount, have cash for any upgrades and enchants you need, and you could buy compairable gear (especially compairable if the rest of your slots need upgrading) for a fraction of the cost (80-150g depending on how steep you wanna go.)

I'd sell it. It's easy money. I'd either stick with trying to get the Cane, or buying Glowing Brightwood Staff for it's (very high) stats. If I'm twinking, I can't justify 26dmg over 15 stam and 18 intellect, especially when it's (generally) cheaper.

Sell it, pick up Vexing Cane from inside Zul Farrak.
SoJ is a twink item in the 39 bracket since you can use it at 36 as opposed to cane which need 42, in the 49 bracket it(SoJ) is outdated.

I got a SOJ at 35, enchanted it with spirit, and stuck it on my back till 58...
Keept it.

I am going to stay at 49 for a while. I checked out weapons in the 49 bracket and only another epic was better suited for my build. I'm going to list it for more than it should fetch, then I'm not sure if I hope it sells or not. I'll just plan an alt for a few days until the sale is resolved (or not). I suppose that if it *did* sell, then I could afford the high end enchants that I can't afford at the moment.

All These Staves will suit you better and are available to you before 49 bracket.
The Kindling is probobobly the best, but Hakkars AND Vexing are both great alternative options.
Fact is BRD is tough for level 47-49, but as Priest you're absolutely capable to heal both it and Sunken Temple. Getting the Vexing Cane at your level as a priest is a matter of finding a group. Insanely easy item to get.
Furthermore you'll probobly be able to buy numerous runs of any of those instances for the price you can sell that SoJ for.
