2H arms warrior = no respectFollow

#27 Dec 07 2007 at 1:31 AM Rating: Decent
Whoever said carrying a 2 hander and being arms spec'd works great for PvP wasn't lying. I hit the BG's at lvl 57 and I was destroying nearly everyone I tangled up with. And of course the battle grounds were full of 59's (and tons of 60's in AV) so it made the kills even sweeter. Before I couldn't even beat people 4 lvls below me and I'm going toe to toe with people 3 lvls higher and I'm beating them. To hell with instances. I'm going to hit the BG's till I have enough honor and medals to get some nice gear. At lvl 60 of course.

No respect? :O

Get some epics and go to BGs - you will get all the respect you ever needed...

Back to topic
Yes you can tank all non heroic instances in any specc. But you need good group for it .
You can even tank most heroics as any specc (with good tanking gear) but the party must be even better (no PuGs here I am afraid).
Try to get defiance and TM from protection tree for easier tanking. While there get Last Stand as well - it is good for soloing/PvPinf and tanking.

I do carry a shield and a 1 handed sword but with an epic 2 hander in my inventory, I'd rather not.

Always tank with 1 her and shiled unless you are overgeared for that instance or much higher level then the instance mobs. To be honest you should have 2 different gear sets - one for DPS/solo and the other for tanking.
PvP set might be a third one.

The thing to take note of here is that the OP is only in his late 50's .. so any talk of Heroic instances at this stage is moot.

Well since going arms and 2 handed hasn't got me any instance invites, it certainly has made allies think twice about attacking me. Since I've had this big *** epic sword hanging off my back I have not been challenged once. Just yesterday I was rolling through winterspring with PvP enabled (On a PvE server) and I passed by a lvl 56 human mage. He got off his mount and targeted me. He must of been charging something time consuming and brutal. Anyways I had my shield and one hander equipped so once the 2 hander came out, he cancelled and took off. Before I would get challenged, laughed at, spit on, and ganked. So I guess the respect shifted to the other side.

Get use to it I'm 67 with over 9K hit points and get no respect when it comes to tanking. I have tanked Ramparts and Bloodfurnace with no problems. I do put on a sheild an a 1H'er. Just the other day a guildy wants to run underbog and needs a tank. So I go over to tank for him once in group he ask me whats my spec. I tell him arms/fury and I get we need a protection tank. So gets a prot. warrior from the guild to come over. After a couple of pulls with one of the dps class goin down. I switch in to tank mod and start off tanking. At the end of the run the protection warrior reply wow man you tank and dps good job. It's just that most players think that if your not spec prot then you can't tank which is just not true.

No the healer doesn't need to be constantly healing everyone but me. On a thousand occasions I've died meanwhile everyone else was at full health. Everyone likes to meter ***** and end up getting mobbed. I do as I'm supposed to. I sunder, taunt, and heroic strike everything in the mob, but I can't control how much threat another player creates. I can only dish out as much as my rage will allow me. (BTW ever since the switch I haven't been in a single group. Invited twice. But once I mentioned I wasn't tanking they said nevermind.)

Just to reiterate - you should put a group together yourself. Why rely on others to invite you, and then be disappointed?

Just put a group together yourself, and you'll be all set. Take charge!! If you really want to group, you can. If you don't want to run in groups, that is fine too. Just don't complain about it.

For putting groups together, use the "Who" tab. It makes it sooooooo easy to put a group together. Search by the region you are in, and it lists all players, their levels, and their class. Then, pst the ones you want. You should be able to put a group together in under 15 mins most of the time.

If you're outdamaging mages with that spec, they should be replaced.

Its not that i dont like fury or arms. Its just the lack of good players for those builds.

I have however met some great fury and arms warrios who are fantastic. Whenever their free i chose them over anyone else.

hell theres no reason to CC with them around.

Hehe. I hit lvl 60 and I don't have the expansion. So it looks like I'm stuck there until I buy it. I just didn't see any point in buying it at first but it looks like I'm going to need it to advance any further. Blizzard is so clever.

I hate to say it but probably the main reason people won't take a warrior for DPS is the lack of CC. Most PUG groups do not go smoothly so usually the more cc they have (traps, saps, sheeps..etc) the easier the run will be. So if you're not tanking most groups won't want to use you.

Try telling them that you'll only need the extra CC for the larger group pulls. So instead of you brining the CC tell them you'll OT with the large pulls and then back to DPS for the smaller normal pulls and boss fights.

Guild runs are different. They know how each other plays and can anticipate what others are going to do next so they might not need as much CC in a run.

I'm over it. I get no love from groups, but as far as BG's go, well its not a pretty sight for who ever is on the receiving end of my attacks. Second wind has pretty much rendered stuns useless. I just regain whatever damage was done while I was stunned. Mortal strike not only does close to 1000 damage most of the time, it takes a big chunk out of the opponents ability to heal. It opened up my advantages in pvp alot. When I was prot spec'd I just got beat up on till I died in BG and pvp.

I'm doing fine questing solo, and I'm racking up tons of honor in BG's so when I hit 70, I'll be ready for full epic. With the success I've had since. I'm not missing the invites.
