Hi guys! Recently a friend of mine contacted me wanting to make an arena team for fun. He's a nearly full epic healer paladin, and I'll be frost specced. I don't know if I should go for 17/0/44 or 0/0/61 or somesuch? Most say 17/0/44, but then, how is that structured? Which things do I get in the arcane tree? Seen some without Arcane Concentration, and with Arcane Fortitude and so, so I don't know.

If anyone could give their opinion on the best arena frost spec, then please do. If you can, link a build of it, please.

Thanks in advance!

the main idea of 17/0/44 is to get imp.CS you are free to decide how you get to imp.CS on your own.

the mileage of this actually depends on your playstyle and the team mates you have. If mana wars is a concern then some form of mana regen that takes place in combat is very valueable.

there is a thought going around that 17 into arcane is a waste of time for most mages for that measely mini silence. Ohnoes (mob:TF) went elemental spec the whole time at Dreamhack. Some mages went this route and is more annoying for melee classes since they went molten armor with impact instead of frost armor with frost bite.

what i would suggest you to do is to come up with 3 builts you like and try em each for a week or so. This way you can make the best decisions based on actual play with your team.

good luck

A 4 second silence is so clutch, but 15 points just to grab 2 can be considered expensive. Still browse the mage forums at arena-junkies.com, you can see who made gladiator, and almost every mage in there is 17/0/44, its the main mage arena spec. Some might not like it, but its cookie cutter for a reason.

Id say 17/0/44 is a cool spec and prolly the best for arena as people stated but i preffer skipping that and getting 5 in fire for a chance to stun those pesky melees, you know how much that pisses rogues off :P I like what close to full frost gives me and that silence is better against casters but against locks that not rele gona count for much and other casters are alright for 4 seconds just running anyway.

i see the chance to stun, 3% crit ( damned you resil!)and a tiny bit of dmg (LOL) more then what ice armor gives, slow, chance to freeze, but if you think that rogue that stun locked you can still pound away at you while they are frozen , if they are stunned they cant...

And once again that 4 seconds is good enough to what... give you 4 sec for a cast or 2, give some time to kill some one with 12+k health... not worth it in my oppinion, even to stop a heal or soemthing the normal counter spell works jsut as well since the school is canceled for a bit anyway

(its just my opinion ... NOT THE FACE!*cowers in fear*)

(i got a flu and i gtg so im hurrying) (also must be loads of spelling mistakes, sorry again)
(eddited for spelling a bit)
