The one topic that I haven't been able to gain much information about on these forums is Arena. Hoping y'all can help.

Questions:
1) Can I create an arena team with let's say 4 people and only do mostly 2v2 ?
2) Do you get absolutely no points if you don't win a match?
3) I was thinking about keeping my tank gear on except for my sword&board and use my 2-hander for arena...is this viable? Since my tank gear is fairly respectable atm but my dps gear is kinda shabby.
4) Is doing 10 matches a week hard to accomplish, is there long queue times etc...

Sorry for all the questions, it's slow at work today. And thanks in advance for your answers. Any arena suggestions, tips would be appreciated.

1) Yes, but only battle/queue 2 at a time.
2) No, you still get points even if you lose, but as long as you meet the minimum number of matches you've played per week (10) and played in at least 30% of those matches.
3) Not sure - someone with more warrior experience can answer that.
4) Depends on your server/battlegroup. I'm on the Vindication battlegroup and usually no more than 3-5 mins on a regular week night.

1) Yes. See Arena FAQ on official WoW site.
2) Yes. You will get points even if you are 0-10 for week. Again, see WoW site for how arena pts are doled out.
3) Could be. Try it. Have fun.
4) No. 2 minutes is usually a long queue. Very easy to knock out 10 arenas and then go onto something else.

If you are serious about Arena play spec and gear will be critical. PVP in BGs to get S1 gear and spec Arms (see Warior FAQ above for some spec ideas.) Enjoy!

Cheers!

1) Don't quote me on this but I think you can have double your roster depending on your arena team (4 for 2v2 ect). However to get points every week each member will have to at least have played 30% of the total matches that the team has played for the week.

2)You don't get points from matches you get points determined by your rating. You'll get matched against teams by your rating and lose/gain points depending upon your and your opposing team's rating (ie You'll gain fewer points for beating a lower rated team, but more points for beating a higher rated team).

3)I'd say no. Go do regular PvP battlegrounds and gear yourself up there (Or even run 70 instances and heroics).

4) Depends on your battlegroup, although I highly doubt you'll have trouble getting in 10 games a week, even if you only do maybe 1-3 games a night.

Alright lets address these in the order you presented them.

Quote:
1) Can I create an arena team with let's say 4 people and only do mostly 2v2 ?

Yes, each arena team can have up to 10 players on its roster. So your 2v2, 3v3, 5v5 can each have 10 different players. You can choose any of the 9 on your team to run 2s. Hope that made sense.

2) Do you get absolutely no points if you don't win a match?

No, you get points regardless as long as you play 30% of your teams games. Obviously you points go down as your score does, but I dont know think its possible to get 0 points. Maybe but very difficult and tedious.

3) I was thinking about keeping my tank gear on except for my sword&board and use my 2-hander for arena...is this viable? Since my tank gear is fairly respectable atm but my dps gear is kinda shabby.

Tank gear can work in BG's fairly well given the situation, but Arena is a whole different animal. You may last a little longer but your dps will be so pathetic the other team wil just toy with you. The only class your tank gear would really give you an advantage would be rogues, druids. =( Run BG's for your Vindicators gear. Dont worry about doing amazing in Arena at first. There is a learning curve that takes time and also adapting to your partners playstyle and vice versa. Get used to using all your tools, ie: disarm, Spell reflect (macro time), TC, and Demo shout are often overlooked in Arena but can really make a difference. Sorry got off track, but I hope you get the idea.

4) Is doing 10 matches a week hard to accomplish, is there long queue times etc...

No it is easy and can usually be done in an hour or two. The ques for me seem to be longer, the night of the arena reset, becuase everyone is trying to squeeze in some games.

My 2v2 team will most likely end up being made up of myself, ret-pally, shadow-priest, and a lock.
We'll probably just end up mixing it up with different partners according to whoever is online.

Any thoughts on what class is an optimal 2v2 partner for a warrior?

I had great luck with a spriest or a lock for 2v2. Locks are simply unfair in 2v2. But spriests are very very close imho, since they group heal via damage, and warriors especially can use that extra little something.
