Kara, Guild & Gear CheckFollow

#1 Dec 05 2007 at 6:04 AM Rating: Decent
Well i've been doing a lot of heroics the last few weeks and they're getting pretty routine and easy. The only one i haven't completed is SL when we got stuck on murmur and our healer kept dying and not looking after herself. But apart from that they've all ran pretty smooth. I now think i'm at the point where i can't really get much else PvE gear wise.

Here is my armory Phobic
Ignore the riding crop. It auto equips when i mount. I normally have Core of Ar'Kelos
Equipped and have 1746 AP with AoTH on.

I have been recently trying to get this Wrathtide Longbow
But it's so damn hard to find a pug for heroic SV on my server, probably because there's so little badges to collect. And pug's are my only choice as my guild pretty much sucks. They aren't even ready for kara yet even though we have many people attuned, it's mostly hunters. Which is why i'm asking if i should continue getting better gear before kara as it looks like i'll be waiting a while on our tanks/healers getting attuned/geared.

If so, any suggestions what i should upgrade and what to and where to get said upgrade. I did find a pug for kara on saturday and we downed The Curator but that was all we did. Should i just find a new guild and try to get into kara straight away? I've been in my current one for a year and tbh they're pretty casual and most people don't even play after 12am.

Anyway i was considering grinding bg's for this Gladiator's Heavy Crossbow But the thought of getting 250 honor per bg and always losing doesn't really appeal to me. I know i should get better rings/trinkets, but not sure where from or which ones.

Just looking for a bit of direction really before i give up on my hunter and focus on my mage instead =(

Your gear is good. The only thing you need to focus on is getting around 50 more hit rating to get hit capped. Easy alternatives Are Kaylaan's Signet from an Aldor quest chain and Ravenclaw Band from Sethekk Halls. I say those two specifically as they have agi as well, which you'll need as a Surv hunter. There's also Traitor's Noose for your neck in Heroic Slave Pens, though you'll lose a fair bit of agi there. Alternatively you could consider Pauldrons of Desolation and one other for a quick and easy 55 hit rating.

Yeah, you're fine. I've seen hunters go into Kara with gear much worse than that and do fine. Hell, I'd almost call you good for Gruul's, especially for your expose weakness. But the hit rating could be higher...and it will get higher if you ever get into Kara. Get your Kara rep ring and some other stuff in there and you'll quickly have more hit rating than you know what to do with. As far as ranged weapons go...getting one in Kara is easy. Three bosses drop them, including the very first one (Attunemen or however you spell his name). If that won't happen, grind for some Honor Hold or Ogri'la rep. They both sell purple ranged weapons at exalted. And if you're doing a lot of heroics, you could save up badges for the purple gloves - they cost 60 badges, but they're awesome, and they have some hit rating.

See link in sig, a crapload of rings mentioned there.
As for trinkets: best possible pre-kara is Hourglass of the unraveller + Heroic badge trinket.

I cant check armory now because i'm on a ****** pc watching video's on youtube but from what i'm hearing i'd say apply to a (new) raiding guild unl;ess you really like your current one.
From what you said here it sounds like you've got a pretty good clue of what your doing ;)

Well first thing i did after posting was leave my guild as they're going nowhere and never will. Then i spam trade and guild recruitment channel for days trying to find a raiding guild who needs a SV hunter. Seriously i tried for about 4 days and not a single invite. All the guild recruitment messages always specifically point out that they don't need/want hunters. So basically i'm a bit fed up with being a hunter at the minute.

I did get a pug kara run and we downed the first boss (can't remember name) and Moroes pretty easily. Then before Opera, people had to leave so that was that. I was always joint 1st on the dmg meters with a MM hunter, who i didn't get Trueshot Aura from but she did have it on...Dunno if this was cause she was in a different group in the raid or something...But i bet she got the benefit of my Expose Weakness =)

Anyway, like i said, i'm pretty fed up with the Hunter population being 50% of the entire server. And i've pretty much given up trying to find a decent guild. And if it's not to do with the hunter population being too high, then it's too many huntards. Which i certainly am not, i know my class inside out and play it really well imo. I dunno if it would be worth transferring him to a different server, cause i'm sure they'd all be similar. So all i've been doing is levling fishing and cooking lol. Oh and grinding for my Nether Drake...

But the last few days i've been playing my mage, and got him to 66. And tbh it's way more fun in pve and pvp and also with tailoring specializations it's much easier to get decent gear. So i'm probably going to rest the hunter for the minute and focus squarely on the mage.

Thanks for the advice, i'm sure nobody can offer advice for a downbeat hunter though =)

i can say this tho, asking for an invite to a raidguild in game chat isnt likely to work.

1. check the realmforum, most raidguilds announce if they are recruiting there, there is also usualy a list of the servers raidguild and thier website adresses.

2.Check some of them out and see what classes they are looking for. ofc even if they arent looking for a hunter you can still send them an apply, just remeber to take your time writing a good one or most guilds will just say no without even looking.
if accepted applications is still readable, have alook at those to see what the guild expect from an application.

good luck

That wont ever work.
Raiding guilds recruit people through applications on their website.
So go to your realmforum and check links to Karazhan raiding guilds and then apply there.
(usually they have a form with questions there)

Yeah i knew they prefer that way, just other people i know haven't had to. And i really cba writing what seems to be a job application, it just seems silly. After all it's only a game. But it seems that's my only choice...

Thanks for the replies.

In all likelihood the "other people" you are referring to were probably much needed classes, such as healers and Tanks.

You are DPS, not only are you DPS you are playing the most over-crowded DPS class.
In order for you to raid you are going to have to distinguish yourself from the other 20 hunters that want that raiding spot as well.
Don't count on the democratic "everyone gets a turn" scheme, because frankly if it means the difference between progressing or being fair, we choose to progress and will take the best of each class.

Filling out an App for a raiding guild is the first step. It shows that guild that you are serious and respectful towards their policies.

So take 5 minutes out of your play time and just do it.

Sorry i should have said other hunter's i've known haven't had to. One of my friends hit 70 a few weeks after me and about 2 weeks after that he was half kitted out in kara epics and a few weeks after that he's full epic. And the funny part is, he's crap.

Maybe i'll find motivation to play an overcrowded class again someday, or maybe just sell him...

Silly? An application to a raiding guild is actually quite a serious thing. When I go over applications to the guild I am in, I can usually tell quite a bit about the person right off the bat.

Did the person read the sticky which gave him a copypaste template for the application? If not, autodismissal, because we really don't need that lazy or inattentive tards in our guild. Did the person make an effort to seem like a somewhat mature and decent person? Overall writing style and such will tell you this. Does this person know how to even write english decently? A matter which is definitely a serious matter for a guild, when communication is alpha and omega. What kind of gear does this person have? Did he link to the Armory or just say "Full epic lol"?

All of this stuff will tell you a great deal about the person applying. I have no use for lazy shits who won't even punctuate a sentence to seem at least educated on a first grader level. I have no use for people with blue and green gear. I most certainly have no use for people who tyep liek this wiel using smileys as punctuation XDXDXDXD!!!!!!!!1111

Make a proper application, and you will find your reception in the guild to be far better than if you just go "Yeah, I want to join and can't be ***** to spend five bloody minutes on the application".
