Shamen in bgFollow

#1 Dec 05 2007 at 4:38 AM Rating: Decent
Hi all, hope you can help

As I belong to the "older" WoW faction I tend to be a bit slow and un-coordinated; hence I prefer to play a support class (mainly Priest).

I usually end up on defence or covering the FC. I noticed just how good a shamen is at both these activities and thought i'd give it a go.

Point is I don't know which talent build to go with. There's plenty of advice for high lvl's but what about 19/29? My thinking is enhancement - given the limited space in the flag-room, root them with EB totem and whack them with shocks and a good 2H axe/mace. I should still have enough heal capability to help defend the FC if required.

but.... what do I know?

Feel free to ravage my noob ideas, I welcome your input.

you say lvl 19/29, so are you twinking? if so, definately go enhancement, simply because of the far superior enchants for meleers at that sort of level

get +agility or strength, do not be fooled by icy or fiery... they are very overated and are not that good.

i agree, fiery is ok, but it doesn't proc often enough to justify the cost and I've never seen icy proc. Those enchants are only good for the visual effect, but add no real value to a twink

I don't get why people keep rating you down, you give good advice.

It's not that he's being rated down, it's that his default kharma score is Default.

Well I'd like to adress both issues...

First and foremost the 19/29 bg issue. In a bg a shaman's job is too dps and to some off healing as enhancement. At that level enhancement is THE BEST SPEC for pvp. what you are going to want to do is go half and half though. Shocks are a good way to deal damage sometimes over a good weapon,, but not very often. On 29 you will have many options avalible to you one of which is ghost wolf. If you are just leveling and stopping by in each bracket, I wish you luck in dealing with twinks. Purge is your best friend in almost any bracket. It offers many benefits to gain an advantage, especially over priests. No matter whether you are lucky or not pvp is always fun so with that I wish you luck.

Now for the second issue. Draeneipally, my advice to you is to not let it get you down, because many people who use allakhazam, like me, do not know how to rate people. Trust me keep going with your advice and don't let a rating get to you. Even though you are level 65 doesn't mean that people who are higher levels should just disregard your advice. Keep going and good luck!

Hi there...

In the 19/29 bracket shamans ain't that good in comparison to the other classes. IMO go for the 39 bracket, you would pawn much more than you would have in the lower brackets...

Go Enhancement... Go get the quest in Desolace (I think its called "Down the Scarlet path"), to get The Bonebiter.

Fiery/icy is probably the only options in 19/29, you need to be level35 + to get the other enchants. Thats another reason to go 39, for the enchants. AP on gloves/bracers, stam on boots, etc...

You also get Windfury at level30... Thats probably the main reason to go 39.

You'll be doing serious dmg with Bonebiter, some nice enchants and windfury.

Hope this helps a bit... All you wanted to know was, what spec to go for. I'll say Enhancement. I gave some additional info FYI.

I have to disagree with you guys about fiery.

For the money and the dependability of its procs, fiery is on of the best enchants you can get. It can and I have seen it happen, that fiery can and often does proc multiple times on a windfury proc.

A double proc on Stormstrike is an extra 80 damage, not to mention a windfury multi-proc.

The +str and agi enchants are good, but for the relatively low cost of fiery, you really can't go wrong. Icy, on the other hand, is total garbage. Don't count out crusader either, a double proc is a 400AP increase for a sub-60 shaman.

actually +15 agility i know you can get at level 19/29 etc.

i have seen shamans pwn in BGs at lvl 19/29, do WSG where shamans shine, grab the flag and spam earthbind every time the CD goes down and youll cap it.

Thanks all,

Seems my thinking wasn't too far off. I am not twinking, just enjoying some time in wsg at each entry point during levelling.

I enjoy defending so am currently dropping Earthbind and fire totem near flag. This usually gets me time for at least one shock and a whack from my 2H mallet :) I then chase the efc, trying to get into range to drop a second earthbind; if not spam shock and wait for help.

With my priest by the time i had recovered from the stun the efc was well out of range!

Doesn't get you much kudos on the damage lists, but wth if it helps overall?

Thanks again
