ShadowburnFollow

Umm.

Why does the tooltip say Shadowburn hits for 100-115 Shadow damage?

It's more than that isnt it?!

Admittedly, it's been a while since I had it, but come on!

If you havn't had it for a while, I'm assuming you just re-learned the talent. After doing this, did you go to the warlock trainer and re-learn the higher ranks? I made this mistake once, and it left me scratching my head for a while. I had already hearthed back to outlands when I realized what a dumbass I was and had to go back to Org for training.

You got rank 1 Inoperante, it certainly hits for more when you get 8 :)
I crit for something over 2.5k with it and it crits very often.
Nice *oh crap* spell for PvE.

Oh bloody hell. :o)

This may explain why some other spells have been somewhat less than impressive!!!

Two years I've been playing this game.......!

Thank you, Lathais & Sethy.

And yet...in PvP I've been very successful recently.

*trudges off to trainer, looking sheepish*

I loved it when I was Demo/Destro in the REALLY early days.

I shall NOW learn to love it again!

*slaps head* Just realised, I wondered why after re-speccing i'm not hitting as hard as I used to. Forgot to relearn the spell ranks, thanks Lathais.

The first time I respecced I was working with Rank 1 Siphon Life to keep me alive. I was wondering why it sucked so much then I noticed that it was still Rank 1 on my action bar xD

everyone makes stupid errors like this, i remember my warrior friend managed to get his 2v2 team from 1700 rating to 1900 and then realised he was only using rank one of mortal strike... lol. 'twas impressive. hehe

Yeah. I WAS averaging 30-50k damage done in BGs. Just ran one, in which I defended blacksmith and only had to contend with one ally warrior. 10.5K damage done.

I may now creep up the rankings somewhat...

tbh your damage would only increase a bit unless you're spamming shadowburn, if so then you're far more leniant with your shards than most people, also you must have to farm them alot too :S

It wasn't just Shadowburn, that's the thing. I hadn't retrained anything. Siphon Life, UA etc etc etc... :oS

I was running around with rank 1 AS on my hunter since the moment I got it at level 65... I considered it totally useless for anything but to get Mortal Shots.

So one day we were killing the dragon in SMV for that sweet helm and I was told to pull him with MD. So I finally fired my first AS, and was like "um whats the big deal about this one", I completely forgot I never upgraded it.

Then came 2.3.

heck, I didnt even start using shadowbolt until I hit 60 plus, cause I thought it wasn't worth the mana :( but yeah, everyone makes mistakes!

But is shadowburn really that useful? What sorts of situations does it come in handy for? Like in raids or instances?

Instant kill where casting the equivalent SB would get you killed.

I think the majority of my kills in bg are finished off with Shadowburn.
Actually, a lot of my pve kills are finished with it too.

The cooldown on it isn't bad either.
The only problem I have is when I estimate things wrong and waste a soul shard because they healed or it didn't work, but its only one shard.

Plus you get it back if they die =]

i dont think it scales very well with level, for the cost of a shard i think a little more damage is necessary. admittedly its insta cast so useful anyway, and i START a fight with it. Give em a fright, dot them up and it will probably be out of CD for after the old DC. You will eat shards, but be ready to DS asap and it should be ok.

It depends how much you value your shards, but instant hitting for 2500 and even more sometimes seems pretty much worth it to me.
