That's true, you can't.

A Druid's healing power comes from the heal over time spells we have at our disposal. While in Tree form, you can still cast Regrowth, Lifebloom, and Rejuvenation. Don't underestimate the power when all three ticks are rolling, especially with Lifebloom stacked three times.

I'm Balance, but I pretty much healed my static group through all Outlands instances, until patch 2.3 when our Priest respec'ed from Shadow to Holy. I was all about the HoTs, only had to use Healing Touch when bosses used their big damage skills/spells. Hardly ever had to use it when clearing trash up to the bosses though.

Tree Druids can also use Swiftmend for instant big heals.

With the new patch, you can cast healing touch from tree form, it simply changes you out of tree form.

However, I've found with an adequatley geared tank, my Rejuvenation + keeping lifebloom stacked 3x usually keeps the tank up NP. I dont neglect Swiftmend, as its a powerful ability on a 15 second cd. IF I need a stronger heal, I simple cast regrowth, (with talents =67% crit rate) so it is a fast 3.5k heal.

The exception is of course boss fights, where I -->somtimes!<-- have to use Swiftmend or Natures Swiftness, more often I find myself hitting tranquility for the full party heal.

As a resto druid, you will find you top the healing done charts, or close to it in most raids.

Plus there's always the option if things go even worse of using Natures Swiftness then jumping into caster form for a healing touch.

Was it overpowered when you could cast Healing Touch from Tree of Life form? Why'd they disable just that spell?

I guess that
Quote:
Transforms the Druid into the Tree of Life Form. While in this form you increase healing received by 25% of your total Spirit for all party members within 45 yards, your movement speed is reduced by 20%, and you can only cast Swiftmend, Innervate, Nature's Swiftness, Rebirth, poison removing and healing over time spells, but the mana cost of these spells is reduced by 20%.

would be a bit powerful. Healing Touch is already a pretty mana-efficient spell so bumping it up that much might make it broken? I dunno.

I guess it was mainly to "force" Druids to be HoT-machines to help differentiate the healing style of the various classes. But since we've always had that spell they couldn't just remove it, and maybe they also realized a Druid couldn't keep someone up with HoT's alone if he had low +Heal.

Ok, thanks for clearing this up for me. Guess I underestimated the power of a druids Hot spells.

I can confirm that three stacked lifebloom plus a rejuv that I refresh will keep any good tank up in most fights. In boss fights, I sometimes have to use swiftmend or nature's swiftness plus regrowth.

It's a different type of healing than any other class, really. I had to convince my guild that once my HOTs were rolling, I could out-heal most anyone. IT takes a few seconds to stack them all up, but really once they're there the tank's health rarely even drops more than a few percentage points for most fights.

The quick regrowths and rejuvs are also nice for healing DPS, as long as DPS isn't getting hit by 6K crits or something... and in that case healing touch is too slow to deal with what that DPS is probably getting.
