Woot! Im starting to like Prot more... alot more.

Group rolled out in RFD (seem to find alot less morons doing RFD than SM for some reason.) Ran with Mage/Rogue/Sham/Priest and then again with Mage/Lock/Sham/Priest. Both time I topped the charts even with a crazy amount of Rain of Fires, Blizzards, and Arcane Explosions. I found my best chart today, though, still not as big as I had with Ret but the runs actually are running faster.

Since nobody seemed to believe me last time
35% of damage.

Now to switch back to Ret eventually and see if I can do any better with that spec XD

On the instance runs I've tanked on so far as a prot tank, I've usually been on top of the damage charts as well (though I'm only lvl 38, atm). All those little ticks from reckoning, shield spike, BoSanctuary, holy shield, etc really add up when you have 3-4 guys beating on you at once. You're not bringing any one mob's life down drastically, but you're responsible for slowly wearing down everyone beating on you, making it easier for everyone else to burn individual mobs down.

I just like being able to tell people they have the option of AEing. Blizzarding and Rain of Fire are insanely high-dps spells, when combined with great relative efficiency (if used on enough guys) and you're looking at taking down 8-10 monsters when I can. Certain casters get in the way obviously, which is why I'm not a huge fan of SM Cath, especially since its hard to LoS em out there.

If group is mostly DPS based then I cut back alot, since pulling extra only means more work for the priest and relatively same Kill rate as taking singles.

I much prefer AEing, though =)

It's fun at 70 when you can tank the whole Cathedral at once and kill them without taking much damage (some bastards like to sneak behind you). Just takes a bit cause of all the healers (something like 5 minutes to kill them all).

I'd like to add, now, that I actually skipped the 39 bracket to continue rolling Prot Tank for instances.

I must say that some of my earlier complaints I have found a solution to! The most irritating things were terrible DPS classes that would not follow instructions, followed by being forced to group with other crappier tanks that would still taunt agro on purpose, and finally not being able to find a decent healer.

As obvious as this sounds to a lot of you out there I'm sure -- FRIEND EVERYONE who you have an outstanding run with.

I now have a network of over 10 Priests, about 8 Mages, 5 Rogues, 5 Locks, and a few other filler classes (Hunter, Shaman, Druid) that I know I can count on to excel and Holy Crap I cannot believe it. Every run I become more and more amazed at how fluent we all work together. Not only do I know they know how to play, but the more I play with these same guys over and over the more we all learn eachother's limits together.

If you were like me out there, getting completely frusterated with groups... start doing what I did and whenever you meet someone excellent who feels you excelled at your job - FRIEND EM!! Even if the rest of the group was terrible, if you meet a friendly and compitent DPS or healer out there snatch them up in friends immediately - if they liked you they'll do the same.

Now when I log on I usually get 2-4 group invites without lifting a finger, and they're the best pseudo-PUGs ive ever had (including my 70s.) I'm friggin loving it.
