Tanking pre-70 Outlands instancesFollow

My Warrior Tyrsong is 64 now and steadily plowing through quests with a dual wield fury build.

My question: Will I have much difficulty tanking instances around my level (like Slave Pens) with the ~4 Outlands Tanking Greens (not shown) that constitute my tanking set?

A group yesterday gave me a hard time for wanting to tank this instance as a fury build with merely 6k health, despite the fact that I remember having an easy time mainhealing the place on my Shaman (elemental at the time). I assumed the same "offspecs work fine til ~68-70" rule would hold true for warriors, but their comments got me wondering.

Due to potential loot drama, I left that particular group, but I still wanted to track down whether their comments were true or not (perhaps there've been changes to normal SP sine I last played? The last I ran normal SP was about 3 months after BC released, when I leveled my mage to 70.)

Comments on build build are welcome too. Tried to create the best dual wield leveling build I knew how, but I'm far from an expert on warrior talents.

Ok, as a fury build yes you can tank, if you have a tanking set.

Honestly though 6k HP is low and your healer in that group better be on thier toes to keep you up.

If your really wanting to Tank BC instances you need a tanking gear set. 4 pieces usually wont constitute a tank set though.

Do you have a tanking set? Your Armory link is showing me you're DW'ing swords. With out seeing your tanking set up, it's hard to know what you're needed.

HP is a must. 6k the Hungerfen from UB will 2 shot you XD Just kidding, but try to get more HP. Look for tanking rings "...of the champion" is what I started out with (and the nice tanking quest rewards). Look under the Kara ready sticky and there's a guide for nice quested tanking items.

I'd say get "of the: champ/bear/and even Defense" gear (I had boots of defense at one time).

OP, I'm in the same boat pretty much. But...I have a full tanking set (8 pieces)as well as 8 points into protection(for +20 def rating/stance mastery). I think my def rating in my tanking gear is in the 420's, with 7.5k HP and about 7k-7.5k armor, cant recall off the top of my head.

SP you can tank just fine. Then came UB. It WAS NOT FUN. It prob didnt help that we had an inexperience healer(he was lv 62 as well). Point of the story?? The Bog giants hit HARD, specially the boss. We got to the Hydra boss and beat him and I called it quits after about 7 wipes.(I was lv 65)

So, in conclusion, you can tank SP, I did it at lv 63 with my "tanking gear". You can tank UB with a good healer or a higher lv healer with more mana. But in all honesty, I think UB is probably the last instance you can tank w/o being full prot.

I've had a hell of a time lately after my second child and don't want to go prot because I just don't have the time to log in and play uninterrupted for 2-3hrs. Guess its soloing to 70 for me(which sucks since I'll miss out gear/rep and not to mention the grind from 65-70 just doing quests sucks and its boring as hell, specially the second time around.)
