Feign Death + KTM Threat MeterFollow

#1 Dec 03 2007 at 6:32 AM Rating: Decent
Has anyone else noticed that it doesn't wipe your threat when using Feign Death? I spent alot of time in raids these days making 100% sure that I didn't just miss a "Resisted" message, and then (with the raids approval) I deliberately passed 130% threat on the threatmeter after a Feign Death to verify that my threat had indeed lowered. I got up to 200% threat before the boss went down, which indicates to me that the KTM Threatmeter indeed failed to recognize the threatwipe after Feign Death.

Has anyone else noticed this? Tonight I will be trying out both Omen and KTM simultaneously to see if one succeeds where the other fails, but I am somewhat curious as to whether this is just something with my own mod installations, or if it is a global phenomenon related to the Feign Death changes we've had.

KTM is kinda outdated, I think, and has several flaws. Had several issues with it before. I just deleted and, instead, am using Omen and the built-in threat meter that comes with Pitbull.

I used KTM pre 2.3 and never noticed that happening, Omen after 2.3 has been rock solid.

I think it used to knock my threat down, but lately it's been a bit of a hit and miss. More often a miss. Usually my threat, according to KTM, doesn't budge a bit when I feign.

Okay, not just me then. I'll make sure all the raidleaders in the guild know about this, and have Omen become a standard among my Hunters.

I only wound up using KTM for about 2 weeks in my raiding career before my guild switched to Omen. I think omen is more accurate and easier to use. Plus with the nice red glow on the edge of the screen I don't have to constantly watch the meter.

I was a religious KTM user until 2.3 After the patch I also noticed that no matter how many times I Feign Deathed, I would not drop from the meter unless I stayed laying down for around 5 seconds or so. That is a valuable amount of time I could be slinging arrows.

Since then I too have moved over to Omen, and it has worked flawlessly. It also has the single target threat tracking. So if you switch targets, it shows how much threat you have there. KTM does not.

Only on differently named mobs. If two mobs have the same name the threat will stay the same while switching between them.

Still Omen is so much better.

One thing that makes me laugh while using Omen is grouping with someone that uses KTM.

You always know who they are. On a pull of a large group everything will be running smoothly, killing off the mobs, switch over to the last guy that has been frozen the whole time, no one but me has any threat accumulated on him. You switch to that target, everyone is clear of threat except the one guy has about 50k worth of threat built up...
That's the KTM guy.

I've been having the same problem and thought I was crazy. Looks like I'll be downloading Omen!

In order for KTM to wipe your threat with FD you have to remove your pet from combat as well. If you want an accurate KTM reading /petfollow when you FD and as soon as it clears resend in your pet and continue your dps. That is your KTM solution, and the only one I have found so far for this problem.

If you do get Omen for your raidgroup, make sure you set a day of the week when it should be updated by the raiders. The writer of that addon sometimes updates it several times a week, and you can end up with the raid toting around five different versions of it which can bug a bit.

I've convinced my guild to switch to Omen, and Sundays at 19:00 is the update time. That's when we have the Officer meetings and they usually take an hour or so. Good timing to just get the addons updated, then hit Gruul at 20:00.

It does get updated a lot, but I haven't seen much problems with it when people are using different versions. It also lets you know on the screen that there is a newer version available.

I remember downloading it, getting on WoW, playing for about 3 hours or so, only to group up with someone and see underneath the meter:

New Version Available(Player Name)

I was thinking to myself. No friggen way I just downloaded it a little while ago, come on.

But yeah my point is in game it will let you know if someone is using an udated version, so you always know when there is a new version to download.

Omen works fine with FD, just to agree.

I just have the problem with it that sometimes it forgets to clear data. It, at random, fails to clear my threat data while it does clear my pet's. If I fight the same type of mob when that happens, it puts me at some crazy % of threat while nothing comes my way. If I FD, though, it does properly clear the 10k threat I might have listed for the first shot.
