Sorry for the, kind of, pointless post. I really have to say this:

I have come here in the past asking questions about, "am I doing X right?" and "Leveling is extrememly slow and boring, I must be doing something wrong." Everytime I did this, however, I was bombarded with constant replys from you high levels telling me to "stick with it til 20," and "it gets better mate, just wait and see!"

Today, December 02, 2007, I dinged 20. Cat Form. I had a major Wowgasm. Everything you people said was absolutely true. No stretch at all.

I am so excited that I have finally opened the next chapter in my druids life. He is reborn as an often played alt instead of a character collecting dust. I mean, when I get into Wailing Caverns groups and I get the question, "are you Tanking, DPS, or Heals?" it puts me over the edge in excitement. I have the tools to cover all of the rolls. Its never boring.

I know at higher levels I will have to be more specialized and wont be able to fill every roll like I can now but just having the choice of which I want is amazing.

This whole post was just one big 'Thank You' to all of the people who helped me stick with it, and this is hopefully an inspirational story to any low level druids who are wondering if the class ever picks up.

I thank you all so much and I am very excited about joining the druid family.

yeah druid moves are mostly spaced out between the levels....

P.S. lol you might want to check your signature again because I think you thought your druid was a shaman....shaman cannot be feral

Just wait 'till you ding 68 and get Flight form. You'll never want to stop playing your Druid again. Ever.

I can actually see that happening. :D

I was watching a druid play around in Shattrath. You know, cat form ->
sprint -> flight form before he goes *squish*. It looked amazingly fun. One question about flight form though. Can you use it in combat? If so, I think that opens up an entirely new level of excitement for me.

Sadly, nope.
Unlike Travel Form it can't be used in combat, otherwise it would provide a 100% fail-proof means to escape any bad situation as long as you are outside, which you are most of the time.

/nod

Only Rogues are allowed to have such an ability. A fair trade-off for our versatility, I think. Just a minute ago I took on a Rogue and Warrior in Alterac Valley. I managed to kill the Rogue before they wore me down. I was doing all my damage in Bear form.

nitpick inc: rogues vanish (I assume that's what you are talking about) is bugged: pets will attack even though

P.S. sorry, it's late...

To the OP way to go I remember when I hit 20 I had a good time prowling around in cat form and playing defense in WSG

@Selverein: That's why I was wondering. I was like hey, after 68, things will never be able to kill me outside. I should have known that it would be way overpowered. Thank you for the clarification. ^_^

@Linkerman: I just, at level 22, spent an entire wsg stealth healing and rooting. It was a blast. Sure, on my 29 rogue I could have slashed faces but crossing my fingers while I cast root on a level 29 flag holder is awesome! A rogue started following me around just to get the kills after I do this. We won 3-0. ^_^ I also had the second most healed. (First went to a twinked resto shaman[cant compete with that :P])

I'm so ready for a high level druid!

1- I've never played a Rogue but I was under the impression that it could be resisted like a Hunter's FD? Am I wrong, is Vanish really fail-proof?

2- Yeah, that thing about pets pisses me off too. Let's say I see a Hunter or Lock in the distance and they see me too, if they send pet after me before I stealth they'll just hit me and force me out of stealth. They really have to fix that.

I'm not sure if it can be resisted or not but in its current state it is, in fact, bugged. Hunters are, by far, the worst to fight on my Rogue. I hate not having an "OhCrap" button when I get more than a few people hitting on me.

*edit*

I'm actually pretty sure it can be resisted. However, the pet bug happens every time.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that pets are supposed to be able to find stealthed rogues. It makes a certain amount of sense lore-wise if you think about it; a beast having superior senses of smell and hearing might easily find and follow an otherwise invisible foe. Maybe rogues should be able to get "rubber soled shoes" and "deodorizing" talents.

I've successfully given pets (both hunters and locks) the slip using gouge followed by vanish and sprint. If there's favorable terrain to use you don't even need sprint.

To the OP: Welcome to the club! :)

Thanks Zal! I'm glad to be here.

I could understand how a pet could better detect when in regular stealth but Vanish is suppose to put you in an 'Improved' Stealth so I thought maybe it would be able to allow you to elude even hunters pets.

While what you say makes sense, we all know Blizz isn't using Lore as a basis for much in the game. So it could only be an excuse they'd come up with if they didn't want to fix the issue.

But regardless, let's say it is indeed the reason. I can understand for a Hunter's pet, but not a Lock's. Or heck, not even all types of Hunters' pets. I doubt scorpions have such a good sense of smell. :P But yah, an uncertain mass of void? I doubt it can even smell. O_o

No stealth is perfect though. If you're directly in front of it and it's close enough, the pet will still "see" you or whatever.

Well, I did say a certain amount of sense, not perfect sense. ;p I'm not even 100% sure I read that about pets tracking stealthy players. Anybody else heard anything like that?

if a pet is sicced on you while you are unstealthed, but far away, you can still stealth...but the pet will find you. unless you go so far away that the pet despawns back to the hunter.

if you are stealthed, and a pet attacks you, it means it "saw" you. many hunters and warlocks purposely set their pets to aggressive just for this reason, to get a jump on anyone who may be stealthing up to kill them.

if you vanish while a pet is on you, it *should* drop aggro on you. however, due to latency and the often fast attack speed of pets used for pvp, theres a good chance that latency will bite you in the *** and the pets attack will go thru as you vanish, negating the vanish. its the same principle behind "interrupting" a spell with an interrupt (kick, pummel, feral charge) but seeing the spell still cast and your target not suffering lockout. YOU see yourself vanish, and the game does too, but the attack is already coming, so it rolls like normal and if it hits, youre pulled out of stealth. if it misses, or you dodge, you remain stealthed.

Rogue's Vanish isn't supposed to be resisted in the normal course of events. Last I heard, Blizzard had accepted the pet thing was a bug, and at least attempted to fix it. Reports are mixed, but it does sound like lag is the main problem.

The important thing to know if you're fighting a Rogue is: if there's any kind of DoT on the Rogue when they vanish, it'll bust them right back out of stealth the next time it ticks.

To return to the original topic, thanks for posting this. I just rolled a druid alt in an attempt to rediscover my love of WoW, as I've been finding the game post-70 (Hunter and Rogue so far) a little repetitive. This'll give me some added incentive to take my baby druid far enough to discover all the fun goodies you get to play with :)

@Zhaharik: I'm glad someone was inspired by my post :) That was one reason I posted this here (other than to say thanks). If it wasn't for the constant inspiration my fellow druids gave me I would still have my level 14 druid collecting dust.

I hope you continue to play your druid even in the painful pre-20 levels. It gets sooo much better. I promise!

about the vanish pet-bug: What about vanish giving you a 0.5-1.0 sec immunity to physical attacks when you hit the button, that will maybe negate the pet hitting you even after you vanished.

OR: Vanish turning off the pets attack and THEN let you vanish (ofc thats a matter of miliseconds between turning off pets attack and you vanishing, but still)

The small window of immunity sounds like a fantastic idea.

Ye, and its physical, so mages, warlocks and other classes capable of doing AoE-spells (dunno if hunters volley is physical or a spell, though) wouldnt be affected :)
