Ok, my girlfriend got her first character last week and she's been saying that she can't level fast like I do or kill most mobs which are one-two levels above her level. She is a Tauren Warrior, she solos alot so she's currently using Mace+Shield.

Now, what tips shoudl I give her regarding placing her talent points and weapons from lvl 23 to around 40? Should I tell her to stick with the mace+shield?

I am looking for a good one-hander at the AH to give to her, any pointers on that to? =)

I would suggest you get her a decent 2h.

Warrior levels best when speced something like:
Thisand carry a huge weapon

You can move the axe spec points to whatever weapon she wants.

Dont expect to be able to level as fast as many other classes as warrior. We have a problem with more then 1 or 2 same level mobs before sweeping strikes and even then its tough.

She needs to be careful on pulls and it will be slow compared to a hunter or priest or basicly anything except maybe a pally but just keep trucking.

I just started a Warrior myself not to long ago, and one thing I've already figured out, that i noticed on my GFs Druid too, is that unlike our Mains (Warlock and Hunter) Warrior is a very gear dependant class. Make sure her gear is up to par, and that should speed her up a little. On my GFs Druid, she had some okish gear, but was having problems with quests around her level. She got some better gear, and voila, everything was pretty easy again.

I used "5 lvl below" rule. If a green was 5 levels below my curent level I actively (AH) looked for replacement. If it was blue - 7 - 9 levels.
The only problem is that it costs a lot to upgrade gear like this. Having two gathering proffesions helps a lot to get gold for this.

Other tips:
- level with 2 H as arms - it is best at low levels. You can go fury as well but don't use 1H + shield - it is used only when you tank
- always have food and some healing pots with you
- level first aid and carry bandages
- level cooking
- get used to having two separate sets - one for soloing the other for tanking
- find a healer to level with - it triples speed.
- dont forget to do warrior class quests - especially those connected with getting new stances.
- read forums and learn the class
- If you level your first warrior start tanking about level 19 (deadmines). Its not good to powerlevel warrior to 70 and find out that everyone wants you to tank and you don't have a clue how.
- don't be shy of Battle Grounds - some great gear is waitng there for you and it can be fun as well.

If she's going to be tanking now and then, she needs to keep her skill up in at least one of the 1-handed weapons so she can tank effectively with a 1-hand plus shield. So, I would suggest that on the easier quests, to try going with dual-wielding two 1-handers (if you use different types you skill up in both) and using the 2-hander for the tougher quests. I remember switching weapons around a lot as I leveled.

I personally liked dual-wielding fast 1-handers while fighting casters as it interupts their channeling more and using a big slow 2-hander when just fighting basic melee mobs. Since I am prot spec, I have quit using 2-handers for much simply because my talent in 1-handed weapons makes dual-wielding a better option in most cases.

Make sure you have her visit the weapon trainers in all the major cities and pick up all of the different weapon skills. While it's nice at higher levels to 'specialize' in a particular weapon type, while leveling you run across a wide variety of weapons and it's great to be able to switch from a sword to an axe or mace if you run into a good upgrade.

2h fury is THE best leveling spec.

Warriors are the most gear dependant class and probably the toughest ones to level in general as we have a ton of downtime. Just tell her to stick with it for the time being. Once she starts getting better gear, it won't be a problem at all.
