if you're looking for serious dps i suggest you join the three bgs and spec whatever cookie cutter build for max dps, because you can see quite a bit of that there
otherwise, arena is beyond mere dps, you can't straight dps down a guy because you simply get cc'ed
yes, rogues is the premier melee dps of the game, but in arena environment damage becomes secondary; coordination and crowd skills come first.
with the new patch, Shs is rather useless for pvp; it provides nothing more than
1. a bigger hemo every 30 seconds
2. a method to chase a resto druid every 30 seconds
3. a huge ambush opener (if your spec is sub-hemo-daggers then uninstall please)
4. a 3 second sprint every 30 seconds
5. a 50% annoyance addition to your enemy 30 seconds
6. maces do impressive damage, but from what i've seen, it excels in long battles----------arena matches do not usually last more than two minutes
on top of all that, you cannot play Shs beautifully without LAGGING. most of the time, the opponent can catch the sound of the ability and do a quick 180.
something that a mutilate rogue can offer
1. 10 more energy than most other rogues
2. almost guarantee snares on poisons
3. 20% bonus taken with heals
4. insane combo generation with time to spare
5. even with resilience, and yes, it is true, the low dps adds up very fast.
theorycrap and stuff out the window, because those calculations obviously do not hold true constantly---------muti has an edge over maces in terms of control and resourcefulness
preparation - a whole new set of cd's , sure, sounds tasty, but really, if you have to pop a second vanish and dodge, chances are your opponents are really superior to you
mutilate will wake once again. just wait.
