So I get the quest Zeth'Gor Must Burn and I am very excited about the Jerkin of the Untamed Spirit. I'm so excited about the Jerkin of the Untamed Spirit that I rush to look up the quest here on Alla, where folks seem a little hysterical about its difficulty. But I'm so excited about the Jerkin of the Untamed Spirit that I don't want to wait til I can solo this quest. No, I'm so excited about the Jerkin of the Untamed Spirit that I make my husband pull out his 70 to help me, something I never do. And when I finish the quest, I am SO EXCITED about the Jerkin of the Untamed Spirit that I rush to turn in the quest, breathlessly open the window, and promptly click on the Sacred Feather Vest.

Ten points and a cookie if you can spot the druidiot in this story.

Yeah... I have accidentally HIGHLIGHTED the wrong item for choice, but since it still makes you press a button afterwards, I can't say I've actually mis-chosen... If there wasn't a time-frame between highlighting and obtaining I'd pity you. I know the pain of having a laptop touch pad: if you double-tap it, it acts like a left-click. And, of course, it's utterly sensitive. I've mis-clicked talents because of this pad, but it's hard to say I've screwed anything up that gave you time to fix the mistake.

:x

You poor thing :(

The only dumb thing I've done lately is when I played lock for a day, then later played druid in a raid, I got confused and halfway through my raid I was trying to life tap only to find lifebloom in it's place :(.

If you petition a GM soon, they will most likely give you the quest item of choice. Time is of the essence though, they won't do it if you wait for several days. Have the exact time, quest details, etc and keep your fingers crossed.

edit: Well, you being "sage" on the forums actually means you probably knew that :-). If you didn't, however, I'll be glad if it works out for you.

Yep, that was the first thing I did (seconds later). I'd never opened a ticket before but my understanding of Blizz policy is that they'll give you a limited number of do-overs on dumb mistakes of this sort and this seemed like a good one to cash in one of those chips for. The ticket is still open but it sounds like I'll be able to switch them out.

Hee, no, that's more like an honory title I get for being the castle fool.

So, what's the problem? I chose Sacred Feather Vest...

Yeah, okay so I'm Balance. XD

I hope everything works out for you with the GM call.

I feel your pain. Monday I finally got enough honor and marks for some S1 gear! So I mouse over dragonhide, and my friend tells me to look at something. I look, and then I move back to buy it, without realizing my mouse had drifted.

Hurray, now I am the proud owner of Wyrmhide Spaulders instead of Dragonhide! I blame DnD for my brain not equating Wyrm =! Dragon.

I put in a GM call, and sat in queue for 5 hours before finally falling asleep. With any luck, by the time I actually get a GM response, they'll say it's to late to change.

Edit: Also, despite the fact people made it sound like getting the item switched would be quick and easy, they said it would be forwarded to a specialist to look into, and to wait several days for a response...wtf?

Well, you have to consider Blizz must be getting a fair amount of such requests and they probably have only a handful of people with the clearance to do such things. (This is based on the assumption that not all GM's have equal access to stuff)

But yeah, sometimes it does seem to be a bit too much. When leveling my Pally I had deleted something I have just bought off the AH. (Try to equip a BoE, fail to click on "Yes" when prompted if you really want to equip it, fail to notice the question has changed to "Do you want to destroy this beautiful new piece of gear?" and then click "Yes". -_-) It took about a day before I got it back, which wasn't so bad in comparison.

I just got my shiny new shirt this morning (huzzah!) and given my request spanned both a weekend and maintenance day, I don't think that's bad at all. It was a stupid mistake and I'm glad they were kind enough to fix it at all when it was my error and not theirs, so I'm not grumpy about the wait.

Glad to hear the wait time is actually about that long, and that the time spent waiting in line for it is not counted against how long you've had the item.

It does have to go to a specialist for some reason (Item restoration can be done by any GM it seems like, but this sort of swapping cannot).

I wish there were some sort of "Are you sure..." thing when getting Arena/PvP gear. To destroy the item, you get a big pop up that make you type in DELETE to make sure you want it gone, but for actually purchasing the item, its just...click, into the inventory.

Good gosh I haven't heard a grumpywookie reference in ages. I do however, remember you as well quor (what...2 years ago now?). Final Fantasy VI Warrior boards ftw!

I don't even know what a grumpywookie is, but I know enough to take Quor's word for everything. :)

ya, i still pop by the war forums from time to time and spout random bits of warrietry (warrior poetry), in addition to participating in the general jackasshattery that goes on therein.

as for you teacake, grumpywookie is a very good friend of mine who has a knack for incredible storytelling. you dont quite have his knack, but you do have his comedic timing.

heres a "guide" he wrote on how to determine what job you should be in FF:

while here we have one of his more classic episodes of wookieness entitled "Stumpy the mouse":

This is a bad sign for me, as I am a writer. Possibly I should put more effort into my alla posts.

Awesome links!
