So, as of right now I believe every class has at least 2 gear styles.

Hunters only have one, but there is a large gear difference between the talent specs. SV needs more agi than AP, BM/MM needs more Ap than agi.

So why is it that bliz has only given us one gear style, though the teir gear seems pretty balanced, I would like to see more in depth spec gear.

We have 2 dungeon sets but look at them, Desolation is far superior to Beastmaster, it has a higher concentration of stats and higher average level to wear then the Beastmaster set.

What do you all think?

I think you mean Beast Lord vs Desolation, rather than Beastmaster, which is rather an old set :) Desolation is good because of its two piece set bonus, which helps you get to the hit cap very easily. However the 4 piece Beast Lord bonus is just as good, as that 600 armour reduction goes a long way to increasing your dps.

One thing you've certainly got right is the need for more differentiated gear. It somewhat irks me that my epic crafted set is pretty much worthless if I want to spec Survival. Further to this, the only *worthwhile* piece of gear specifically catered to Beast Mastery hunters (so not Leggings of Beast Mastery) since D2 are Beast-tamer's Shoulders. It'd be nice if they could increase this sort of itemisation.

That said, there are other classes that suffer from this. Shadow priests in particular have an annoying amount of +crit on their tiered gear, as well as spell haste rating towards the endgame. These stats are less useful to them than to other caster dps classes like mages and destro locks. This is in part due to Blizzard trying to design one set for both Shadow and Holy dps builds.

It would be nice, but the reason that they don't do it is because the main point of all three trees is DPS- no matter what you argue. Yes, SV has more utility than the other specs, but in the end it's a DPS spec, just like BM and MM.

The classes that get more than 1 set of armor are Priests, Paladins, Druids and Warriors all of which have specs that are COMPLETELY different than the other trees. Example: Feral druids wouldn't be able to function in Resto gear and Vice versa. Whereas a MM hunter could do just fine in SV gear, and SV can funtion in MM gear- even if they don't benefit as much from it.

We aren't the only class that only gets 1 set of armor. Mages, Rogues and Warlocks all only get 1 set.

As for the Desolation set vs the Beast Lord set...

Beast Lord is specifically made for hunters. The stat concentration may be lower, but it's easy to get, and no other class benefits from the set bonuses.

Desolation is an alternative set that is made for both hunters and Shaman. It has a higher concentration of stats, but the set bonuses don't solely benefit hunters, and is harder to get since you have to go in to Heroics to get the whole set.

All classes have a Dungeon 3 Alternative set. There's a set for rogue/druid (Wastewalker), Shadow Priest/Mage/Warlock (Mana-Etched) and Warrior/Pally (Doomplate).

Kind of. Mages can craft either the Spellfire set if they are Fire or Arcane spec, or the Frozen Shadoweave set if they are Frost spec.

Yep, just realized that all classes have 2 dungeon sets.

But still BM/MM all you need is AP and Crit through blues and you can easily top the dps meter. SV you have to load up on so much Agi to even get close to the top.

And I also wish Blizz would give us some better looking armor. Demon Stalker looks like we are warriors, and its seriously ugly, Warp Stalker is growing on me, but still looks like we're wearing blue pajamas underneath, Gronn stalker, certainly having squishy eye balls makes me threatening.

The only hunter armor I've liked was the Alliance BG gear, but it sucks, and Beastlord/Desolation looked ok but it looked like I was a rouge/druid.

And some more good looking guns, Wolfslayer looks like a beast, Don Santos/Gyro Balenced look nice, that lvl 60 sniper rifle that had a huge scope and spring was cool, so was the gun that had the feathers and the huge spike on the bottom.
The S3 gun looks like it has a molten fish tail on it.

Sry for ranting, just want to know if other people feel the same.

I agree that Surv Hunters have got ****** itemization options ahead of them, but as for looks I don't agree at all. Tier 4 actually looks rather good in my opinion. The helm I don't show anyway, and the rest is definitely something that suits my character. Hell, except for the Tier 3, it's the only helm that's actually been good looking at all. And don't get me started on what the designers were smoking when they colored T2.

The T5 set just looks retarded. Half a skull and some yanked out parts of a spaceship. And what the hell is with that electricity aura? I'm a Hunter, not a failed bloody cyborg badly in need of a repair. The eyeball set I am not even going to comment on.

The Alliance BG gear wasn't bad looking, but it was far from Hunterish in looks. Try stalking a prey with that crap on you.

"Crap, there he goes away! It's almost like he knows I'm here! Ah well, I'd better follow him again..." *Jingle, jingle, sparkle, jingle*

But as for Surv Hunter items? Hell yeah, I agree with that. I don't have count on how many epics I have had to just skip straight past because it would lower my agility beyond what I want it to be. Increase my personal DPS? Perhaps, but there are standards for what Expose Weakness should deliver. I honestly don't even know what I should bother spending badges on, and I don't have the patience to farm 75 of those for a pair of leggings T4 beats.

Bah. I was even tempted for a split second to bid on Gorehowl today, because I have been Agility starved when it comes to melee weaponry. Murmur (after countless upon countless attempts) have yet to even let me get a whiff of Sonic Spear. Crone has been encountered nine times since I started Karazhan and has only once dropped Legacy. Thank you very much, flu virus which kept me bedridden that day. I've managed to get ahold of a Spiteblade when it turned out absolutely no one wanted it. Now if only I could get another one. Of course, that would be the raid before Legacy drops again and makes my dualwielding obsolete.

WTB a few active healers so I can just skip past Karazhan/ZA weaponry and get TK/SSC items instead, or just enough GM powers to influence the Droprates in the runs I take.

These pants?
The shoulders dropped in opera, I got em and ended up not using them. There are to little SV options, I am seriously looking at rolling on most rouge stuff because they have gems and just enough agility on them to make the other piece obsolete.

Giantstalker looks like short shorts.

I will never wear gronnstalker, Plz blizz, just let Wolfslayer Drop and I will be happy.

Meh, as far as those pants are concerned I'd much rather have the Skulker's Greaves from Netherspite (pardon the lack of link, I have very slow web access atm). That's what I'm shooting for, though I'm getting the S3 arena legs in the mean-time (these don't look bad, it's just the shoulders and head that look like a failed visit to an occular surgeon).

I agree, SV itemization isn't great. You can do it, but it's definitely not great. =P

SV itemization is ok for some slots of gear. For others it is totally crappy.

Until last week I had to use two leather items as a SV hunter since those gave really good amounts of agility which the mail items did not offer (belt and pants).

E.g. I equiped Skulker's Greaves until last week (with 3x8agi as gems and +50ap/12cr enchanted).
After our 5th kill of voidreaver I finally got my Void Reaver Greaver finally an item really good for SV hunters (and of course still excellent for BM, MM hunters and enhancement shammies).

My T4 pants are on my bank for at least 2 months (nobody else wanted those and I bid on them just in case I wanted to respec in future). Thats correct, T4 pants are crap when compared with a leather item droping from an easy boss in Karazhan.

So, now I'm wearing only on leather item (which I'll likely keep until WotLK comes out).

For every class there are some belt recipies dropping in SSC and TK. The one for hunters is quite nice (clicky) ... for BM and MM hunters. For SV hunters the PvP belts are better and the rogue belt is the best belt for SV hunters until (and including) MH and BT.
So I'm wearing a leather belt in my PvE equip for which I occasionally get much love from rogues because I wear "their" belt (although I bought this thing from the AH, did not want to compete with my raids rogues and feral druids on that item).

Hmm, got a bit sidetracked here. End of rant.

If you need Agility use rogue pieces. I use KC, SS, and AS predominantly so I slobber and drool for rogue gear. Intelligence and mp5 is a waste for this BM hunter. I never run out of mana thanks to some prethought and mana pots (fel mana for long bosses)

Rogue gear maxes agility and stamina, nice. It also focuses on AP, hit and crit, nice.

Now with t5 pieces I have too much hit so right now I am phasing out of hit rating pieces but STILL, rogue gear is exactly the stats SV hunters need so roll on it (if a rogue does not want it of course). Who cares if you lose armor, if you are getting bludgeoned by physical attacks learn to use your FD key.

Whats with everyone and their AP gems as well? Agility scales, gives crit as well as AP, not sure why anyone would go AP over agility under any circumstance. But then again I don't crunch numbers so I may be totally off.
