gear and build

the only things i can think of are that my mainhand weapon damage doesn't do devastate any favors (though it's fast enough to give me decent rage gen), my hit rating needs work (though i think this doesn't really matter until i get to offtanking gruul?), and i'm not sure if my block value (?) is good for tons of threat with shield slam, i calculated 100 block value from gear (my shield slams crit for 1k).

i don't know how to parse my TPS with omen or my damage meter, but when looking at it during my last curator fight it was 350 at its lowest and 700 at its highest, and i was offtanking with guile of khoraazi... when tanking regular SL earlier today, i saw about the same numbers and i was also tanking with it.

my usual rotation for trash is shield slam/revenge/shield block/tclap/devastate/demo shout. on large mobs (like single pulls in kara), it's shield slam/revenge/shield block/devastate, and tclap and demo shout for the debuffs.

what am i doing wrong? why is my TPS subpar?

It's not really the weapon damage, it's the normalization that's the issue. With same-speed weapons changing from a Dagger to a one-hand Mace/Speed/Axe with 1000 AP nets you an additional 50 damage per hit before Mitigation. That adds up to a lot of TPS in short order.

As for Omen, it gives you a 'burst' TPS reading (i.e. "last few seconds")... not sustained. Looking at the Omen numbers is virtually useless for trying to determine your actual threat generation.

:banghead: no i don't usually put HS in the rotation, and i really should since i have a surplus of rage most of the time anyway.

RP - what mod(s) can i use to give me an accurate TPS reading?
