I am thinking about switching to a holy paladin from a retribution one and i was wondering which gear i should use or if i could keep my old gear. I was also hoping for a talent build for my level if it isn't a inconvenience. Also a suggestion on a weapon please and thank you. Here is my account

to be honest i don't really reccomend changing to holy quite yet. with the leveling xp requirement changes in 2.3 ret s more than ever the way to level pally. if you really want to be and end game healer i'd switch over in the 50's or even at 60. i'm typing this from my phone, so i can't easily look up good gear for you. main thing though is to find gear with int, and if you can find any cloth gear with +healing that'd help when you're healing instances. when healing you usually will find more suitable 1h/shield combo's than you will 2h'ers. beyond that at your level healing isn't soo complicated as long as you invest in a good mana pool. other than that for questing get as much str/agil as you can and as slow a 2h as you can find. use hunter/rogue gear if you need to. just watch your health if you get less than mail armor.

and if you really want to go holy, i can give some more specific advice later. my main was holy 10-70. it was a long tedious journey. you'll rely a lot on instances if you want to level at any reasonable speed.

no problem. before i take time to reccomend specics, let me know whether you decide to stay ret or go holy.

oh, and if you haven't read it yet, the FAQ sticky has great info about what stats you need for heang/tanking/dps'ing... and much more awesome info about pallys. i started reading these forums after i had a 70 pally and i still learned some good stuff there.

good lord you're obsessive compulsive, you probably got your 20 posts within the first hour of registration.

Don't go holy at 28.. heck I went holy at 58 and THAT was probably too soon.

First time I logged in since this post was up, so I couldn't have helped, but since that makes me unhelpful, I won't try now that I am actually on >:P

Let say it a bit diferently: go holy only if you have a fix party up to lvl60.

Since 2.3 the speed of solo leveling is increased. So you will level fast as retri or mixed holy/prot. the DPS of pure healer was increased since 2.3 but it still behind the other builds.

Your current build is far from the best. You can correct it in few levels so do not spend money for rebuilding.
  • You do not have Seal of Command in your build. For Retri paladins its the "main" DPS source. Even if it is unreliable.
  • Max out Conviction ASAP. A weapon crit means higher damage of SoC proc.
  • Eye for Eye is mostly a PvP talent.
  • same about Pursuit of Justice

  • If you deceide to use SoR instead of SoC then you need lot of spell damage. Spell damage gear usualy does not have +STR or +AP. So SoR means that you need shockadin build with high mana pool and minimal white damage :(

    Regards,

    Hart

It makes leveling as a whole easier, as you now need 20% less exp to level starting from level 20 until level 60, and all quests within that range get their exp reward boosted by 20% as well. As Ret, you kill single mobs faster than the other trees, hense they level the fastest (though Protection is just slightly slower).
