If you want faster leveling, especially at your level, then you probably want to go ret instead of holy or prot. Even fans of prot leveling will tell you that doing it at 24 isn't really good.

For a leveling early on, Retribution is pretty decent. This build is IMO a fairly decent Ret build at that level.

As a sidenote, Verigan's Fist is a good weapon for Retribution at that level. (In general, slow, hard-hitting weapons work well with Seal of Command).

Yep he's right. Go Ret until level 30 and then respec into a Prot build with reckoning. After that you just pull like 5 mobs at a time and /lol.

I second Tabs build for early leveling. I was a bit different in my approach cause My Pally was more of a fun toon to play with and for the better part of a year he never saw higher then 49.

In the twenties I went to SoC then got pts in holy to put 4 pts into Spiritual Focus so i could heal myself and my flag carrier buddy in WSG a ton easier while getting beat on in the midfield.

49 bracket was Reck Bombing fun in AB

I have soloed up to 35 now and I went with this build instead. http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sVhZZVb Main difference is less Ret and more holy (Spiritual Focus). I am not a fan of Seal of Command plus not getting interrupted while healing is a huge benefit especially when fighting multiple mobs.

I lead in with Seal of the Crusader and judge it. Then cast Seal of Reightousness(SoR). That had me dealing an extra 25+ damage per swing. Then every 8 seconds (if your mana can support it) judge the enemy with SoR for an additional 100+ damage. Recase SoR if its worth it. With a faster weapon that bonus holy damage adds up. The combo of SoR and judged SoC is guaranteed damage (other than a resist when judging SoR) unlike Seal of Command which is only a chance to deal damage.

For my next tralents I topped off Spiritual Focus. Then I went into protection did 5/5 in Devotion Aura and 4/5 in toughness. At 35 I am at about 3000 armour which mitigates about 48% of the damage. I have little problem taking on 2 mobs that are couple levels higher than me at the same time. Down time is almost non existent too.

WEll i am lvl 30 now, prevoius posts have been helpfull, had some extra time so it was fast kinda. Now i would ask u to show me the 30 prot/hol build if u have any suggestions and maybee every 5 or 10 levels after suggestions what to put my points to... i tried the approach of pulling 5 man and retribution aura / consecration while friend was healing and it worked so i kinda like it but would like to be able to solo it. If u could tell me how to build my char for it I would be very greatful

When you hit 35 you will have all the points in Reckoning and will have Blessing of Sanctuary(which if I remember correctly will decrease damage taken by 10). Also, try switching to Concentration Aura when you need a heal and get a shield spike.

but that's just what i would do. I'm definitely not an expert

It definatly depends on what you want to do here.

I'm in the same boat as you are, but the ONLY reason I went Prot was so I could be a more stable tank in Instance runs vs multiple elites. In instances where you're fighting elite monsters a level or 2 above you, Prot has a huge defensive bonus and keeps agro more securely (versus monsters lower than you both can do about the same job, although Ret still needs more healing.)

I think it's safe to say that for leveling (especially in 2.3) your best bet is to continue Ret. TBH unless you're fighting monsters 2-5 levels lower than you, AE Grinding still goes relatively slow. With Ret you can take down monsters 1-2 levels higher than you in 4-5 good blows (about 20 seconds.)

In PVP Ret owns Prot, also. Prot is insane survivability but for pinpointing quest mobs Ret will help you much more. Fact of the matter is the more DPS you push out the faster you will level. I'd guess that Ret vs 1 is same DPS as Prot vs 4 or so -- and if you want keep mana you'll have to use Seal of Wisdom, otherwise you'll be taking breaks after 2 groups of 4, where as Ret can litterally grind forever in this timeframe.

Seal of Command is godlike because with a slow enough weapon, Judging it will simply be an afterthought when grinding, meaning you wont be casting for upwards of 25-30 seconds, giving your mana a ridiculous regeneration times.

Ff you want to tank instances instead of quest roll Protection with Sword and Shield+Spike, Retribution Aura, Blessing of Kings or Protection, and Seal of Wisdom.

If you want to do quests roll Retribution with a slow 2 Hander+Fiery, Devotion Aura, Blessing of Wisdom, and Seal of Command.
