I've read enough stickies and forums (and talked to enough experienced rogues) to know how to put together a build and up til now whenever someone asked what the best leveling spec was, combat swords was said without hesitation. My question, with the changes to sub and everything else, does this still hold true?

hemo builds arent good till high level

combat however is good right away

so yes, combat (insert maces or swords, whatever) is still the best for quick leveling

In My Opinion - keep in mind, my opinion - Hemo is fine to level with. I've been sub since before 2.3 came out. In fact the top two rogues in my Guild (as far as leveling speed and such) are both Subtlety spec - my 45 and another who is 51. Neither of us are Combat rogues but we're both flying thru levels.

So really its a matter of personal taste, but I've found sub working perfectly fine for leveling.

A side question, not really pertaining to leveling... Does anyone ever spec mutilate? I haven't seen a mutilate rogue since pre-BC, all I see is combat and now sub

What makes combat good for leveling are Dual Wield Specialization, Blade Flurry and Adrenaline Rush - and that's because it allows you to plow through 2-4 mobs at once, without dying. Without those talents, you have to be much more careful, thereby leveling more slowly.
