So, I've decided to make an arena team to get my ridiculously OP axe and will be dragging a few guildies along for the ride to get there likewise OP arena gear. The problem is, I haven't PVPd since like 49. Any advice on some easy to get (in this case, not honor grinding for hours/day) pvp gear?

I'm planning on visiting the spirit shard guy later today to pick up my hat, but any other advice would be more than welcome. I am also planning on BGing a bit to get back into the swing of things, and pick up some decent stuff if/when I get the honor for it, but I'd rather not have to BG for days to weeks on end to put together a semi-respectable pvp set.

Also, I was thinking of something like this for a spec, but I've never arena'd before and have no idea if it would be viable so, again, any advice would be more than welcome.

There's a pretty extensive gear list in the sticky, that would be a good place to start, but ultimately you're going to need to pvp to get good pvp gear. With the S1 set available for honor now, you can get a good pvp set, but you do have to accrue the honor.

What you're likely to find is that with your current gear, which is presumably PVE based, your survivability will be lower, and without resilience if you get crit, it's going to be a big hit.

I won't comment on the build, since I've only even played a SV build briefly. I'm Beast specced, and I can say that it's nice to be immune to the slowing and fear effects with the Beast Within.

Either way, good luck.

Theoretically SV should be good for arena because of cc. But in reality cc will only last for 10 seconds in pvp and survival has a low damage output arena wise because your won't have the agility you need, also your crits will gradually become lower making SV less and less helpful.

BM is a good choice, lots of good DPS talents and a bit of survivability stuff, pets become a real pest, you become invincible with BW especially if you have Stoneform, and the "I Win" Button.

"I Win" Button;
Bestial Wrath
Stoneform / berserking / other racial
Rapid Fire
Bloodlust Brooch / other damage trinket

wrap that in a macro and death will follow you.

2v2, go BM.
3v3 or 5v5 go MM (or something like that)

Because MM has the big shots (and crits) and the burst damage that matters for pvp.
Also Silencing shot is a neat trick in pvp and having Imp. Wing Clip, Entrapment, Imp. Concussive and scatter shot will help kiting a lot ;)

I agree with the other posters here, but if you want to stick with the build you made go with this or something like it. All i did was max Surefooted for the resist, removed clever traps for entrapment (cc lasts a max of 10 seconds in pvp), and got you go for the throat, since at ranks of arena that you will probably be sitting at till you get your pvp set and back into the hang of things there wont be much resilience and your crits will be much more common. GftT is a great talent that you shouldnt underestimate.

Enjoy the arena while you are at it. it's lots of fun!

Thanks for the help. We were planning on doing a 2V2 team, so I think I'll just stick with BM since it is what I know best anyway. After pew pewing in the bgs all day today (you'd think they'd know better than to let me sit in the back all by my lonesome with my bow) I've gotten my feet wet again and actually did pretty well coming in first in damage dealt repeatedly in AV, AB, and WSG (figured I might as well try to get the marks out of the way for some of the S1 gear, plus I've never done EoTS. >_>) Should have my S1 Chest tomorrow or the next day for something else to add in with the spirit shard hat.

On a related note, if you have a 2V2 team can it only have two members, or is there an alternate system? I thought I heard somewhere that you can have twice as many people on the team as actually play at any given time (4 for a 2V2, 6 for a 3V3, and 10 for a 5V5), but none of us involved have ever done arenas before to be sure).

Sorry for all the newb questions, but, as far as arena is concerned, I am a total n00b.
