Disc /shadow build mostly for PVPFollow

Hi all, I'm currently leveling my priest, 54atm. But since I already have a 70 healing pally, I want nothing to do with raid healing for this priest. I've been looking for a good damage dealing and survivability spec for solo gringing and PVP and came up with something like this. http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=bxMuzhxtbxVZZVMGd0t0b

I like the fact that I can throw a renew on myself with out dropping out of shadow form, and the Disc talents seem to add a ton to survivability and mana conservation, and with the reflective shield, Its like having an extra DOT.

i'd take PI over imp DS. my damage gear doesn't have much spirit on it, so divine spirit (& imp DS) just don't make sense to me. my healing gear, on the other hand, is loaded with spirit so DS makes more sense for a hybrid healer build.

if you want a renew, apply Vamp Embrace.

darkness is 10% more dmg
shadowform is 15% more damage
misery 5% more damage
even +15% crit from shadow power will boosts damage

what are you giving up all these damage buffs for? DS, reflective shield, & 10% discount on instant-cast spells

lastly, rank 1 psychic scream makes shielding unnecessary (and a waste of mana, even if it's a reflective shield).

Basically a re-hash of what ixidoria said but...

Go much heavier into shadow. Don't even bother taking shadow talents if you aren't going to take shadowform. I know you're thinking "I need to survive but do good damage" but Bliz has designed the talent system specifically to prevent this type of overpowering. (Except if you're a lock.)

Giving up 32.825% extra damage is not worth what you're getting in Disc. That 10% extra mana efficiency *only on instant-casts* in Disc or the 32.825% extra mana efficiency in shadow by increasing your dmg/mana?
You're also giving up VT, which is a staple of our ******** You're missing out on shadow reach, which is especially important in small-group PvP. Pre-arena, you're giving up massive gains on crit from Shadow Power (though in arena this is less of an issue, since the first 2-3 points will basically put you at 0% total crit instead of negetive).

For solo'ing it'd work, but it's based too much on survival and not enough on damage imo. And you still won't have the damage or the survival to outlast another person in PvP, I'd wager.

Oh yeah and one more thing. Renew doesn't count for much in arenas where most DPSers have a crit over 25%. You live and die by PoM, and Flash Heal mostly.
