SHIELD SPIKE VS SHIELD ENCHANTFollow

#1 Nov 29 2007 at 3:27 AM Rating: Decent
I am a lvl 19 BE Prot Pally and love to PVP, actually dont do to bad except hunters.

Question: Which is more beneficial Shield Spike or Shield Enchant.

One concern is if I get Shield Spike, I am required blacksmithing profession not big deal but I make money skinning and herbalism, not much though.

Please help, looking for all the advice I can get.

Thanks in advance.

for prot, a shield spike is usually good. neer had a 19 twink though, so perhaps someone else has better input for twinking.

also, you don't need bs'ing to have it. just to apply it. just fnd a bs to put it on for you if you don't want to change profs.

Actually you don't need Blacksmithing for a spike, just need to have a Blacksmith apply the spike for you. On that note, I'm a big believer in enchant > spike unless you are AOE grinding where that extra spike damage will do the most good. PvP I doubt (correct me if I am wrong) a spike will do much good as fights generally don't last long, and particularly when there are a lot of casters/hunters around. Granted you get into a fight with all melee fighters that's different, but what are the odds of that?

Tanking I always say go for a Stamina enchant over a spike. The health is much more beneficial than the minimal damage/threat obtained through a spike. If spikes did Holy damage, I may change my tune.

Healing in any form obviously a spike isn't gonna do you as much good as an Intellect enchant would.

So yea, unless you're going to do some AOE grinding I'd suggest anything over a shield spike.
