Weapon ChainFollow

#1 Nov 29 2007 at 1:56 AM Rating: Decent
I currently have 2 weapons for tanking: My beautiful axe, Grom'tors Charge, and Terroks Mace. The mace has a Weapon Chain. Following a bad experience in the Ramparts with Disarming Orcs, I always keep a weapon chain ready.

Am I better off with a Weapon Chain or an Enchant on my regular tanking weapon? What proportion of Kara / Heroic Mobs can disarm? Are there any Instances where a chain is essential or even un-neccessary?

There is 1 room in Kara with disarming mobs. Its on the way to the Chess event, and there's something like 10 of those boogers in there you have to pull out 1 at a time.
I would always keep a spare weapon with a chain in the bag. However, your main tanking weap should get enchanted.

Cheers!

Or just use druid to tank them :P.
Or just use Shield Slam when you are disarmed followed by TC and Demo and.... ups weapon is back..

No true need for weapon chain for a tank in raid. Although in some 5 men instances it would be a great idea to use those.

Sadly, I think you ran into the gear wall that a lot of tanks run into.

You need multiple tanking sets. Not full sets, but different parts of sets to accommodate each pull/mob/boss. A weapon chain on a weapon that you rarely use, can be very useful, especially if your concerned about being disarmed by a mob.

And those mobs in kara, I think where patched a while ago to not disarm anymore. Or, the last few times I have gone into kara, and gotten past shade, I have had the luck of not being disarmed by disarming mobs. Which is entirely possible.

Or get a time with a fist weapon and train your unarmed skill up to 350. You will be perfectly of with only shield slam, shield bash and thunderclap for a few seconds once every 6 hour of play.

I have no bad experience at all with the orcs in ramparts. A minor loss in tps and no parry for a few seconds don't really cause a wipe. Actualy I think I would lose more on bringing out a nerfed weapon than getting disarmed for 5 seconds.
