Am i ready for kara and beyond?Follow

#1 Nov 29 2007 at 1:15 AM Rating: Default
Today i was thinking, I dont really know what else i can do about getting better gear. I have tried as much as possible to get the best pre raid gear i can find. Now im kinda lost to what i can do next. Pretty much i just wanna do karazahn, hard part is i cannot get my guild to do it. but when we actualy do get around to doing it. i wanna be as ready for it as possible. So does anyone have any tips for any gear that may make me more ready for kara? I know i need to replace my beastlord stuff. but as of right now i cannot think of much else that is pre kara that is better than the 4 pieces with the set bonuses. any tips are greatly apreciated.

I would say overkill. You are very well geared for before Khara and probably good enough for ZA too. Oh, definitely get 28crit scope on your range, unless you are getting something better in near future. Oh once you start upgrading, try going with agil on gear.

As for pre raid gear, Badge gear should be your focus, which is really raid gear.

Actually, unless Zul'Aman was nerfed in the latest patch (didn't read the patchnotes yet), he isn't geared for it. Possibly two bosses, but that's pretty much it. Zul'Aman's difficulty level points more towards people who are fully geared after Karazhan and Gruul, and has enough raid experience to adapt in the middle of combat.

Compared to the loot tables, Zul'Aman is actually too difficult. Most people agree that you should have cleared Karazhan and Gruul, and have started working your way into SSC and steady Mag runs before you consider Zul'Aman a serious raid destination.

Gearwise, but mostly for raid experience. You really have to have the experience to really react quickly in that instance. Rumor has it that it's been released as it is to give the BT/TK raiders something to have fun with before they'll nerf it down to a difficulty that lower end raiders can enjoy.

Besides, I wouldn't think that an instance that has loot on par with SSC/T4-5 would be a destination for a beginning Karazhan raider anyhow. Clear Karazhan first, and go through Gruul to get a feeling for 25 mans before you hit Zul'Aman with any expectation of getting through more than the first two bosses. And you can completely forget about the timer events.
#4REDACTED, Posted: Nov 29 2007 at 1:43 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) thank you north. But i was never asking if i was ready for zul aman. i just wanted to know if my gear was "good" enough to be useful in karazahn. Seeings how I have only done kara a few times and only ever downed the first boss i was curious to see if i was undergeared for it or not. And also i was looking for any gear option's or tips that i could get that would help me get ready for doing well in kara.

Now thanks to the reply from Elustriel i know that i am well enough geared to do ok in kara. Maybe its time i start looking for a guild that is actually working on getting kara done, because it seems all my guild does now is talk about it.

That's what I did, I switched to a guild that actually did and not talked.

You are geared well enough for Kara as you are. For "more ready",I think I already gave some options in a prior post, but I'll try again:

Head - Stalker's Helmet of Second Sight
Hands - Ar'tor's Mainstay

You lack Hit Rating. Here's a few ways for you to get it:
Ring - Violet Signet (I see you are Honored with Violet Eye, so this should be in your bank)
Neck - Insignia of the Mag'hari Hero

And of course you still have a few gems and augments which could use upgrading.

And of course getting into the right Guild or pushing the one you're in now will also have a huge amount of impact on being "more ready" for Kara. :)

Your tooltip and crit% are both very near mine (in fact your crit is higher even taking into account the buffs you logged out with), and I'm wearing about half Kara gear.

In short you're more than ready to go through Prince easily.

Some things to work on:

First would be making sure you can chain trap well. I could do it "well enough", but my first Moroes attempt was a serious wakeup call. Having points in Survival and the BL trapping bonus will help you out a lot there.

If you don't have a shot rotation macro, personally, I'd make one. Having one thing less to focus on can help a lot on some fights where things can get hectic, Shade for example.

You have a ton of HPs. Like 2K more than you'd really need since if anything looks directly at you then you are probably dead one way or the other. I'd see if you could ditch some stam for more AP, Agi, or most importantly...

HIT RATING, HIT RATING, HIT RATING. Ever since I *whiffed* my first MD shot at Prince my first week I haven't been able to let myself get under hit capped. Luckily my auto-shot went off just as Prince got to the edge of the deadzone and he ran off the other way.

Get a threat meter if you don't have one. Learn it, live it, love it, FD early and often. Personally, I prefer KTM as Omen seems to be less accurate.

Consumables. Fel Mana pots or Super Mana pts (fel Mana are superior, but harder to find on my server for some reason), Ravager Dogs or Warp Burgers, and Flasks of Relentless Assault or the Agi/crit rating potions who's name escapes me for the moment. I'd go with the Flasks in the first couple of weeks while everybody is getting the hang of what is going on, but lately I've been finding myself using the much cheaper agi pots now that we pretty much have the place on farm and I die less often.

You're more than geared, and will probably be at or near the top of the damage meters unless there are equally geared persons in your raid.

Heres me if you'd like to compare: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Feathermoon&n=Rockcelot
(I know my chest isn't enchanted, but I'll get it done before I do anything important. Finally picked that up in heroic bot the other day and would have worn it even if the stats were much worse than the laughing skull battle harness that I had before because that thing was f'ing hideous).

You are geared well enough for Kara as you are. For "more ready",I think I already gave some options in a prior post, but I'll try again:

Head - Stalker's Helmet of Second Sight
Hands - Ar'tor's Mainstay Epic Gloves from heroic Mech.

You lack Hit Rating. Here's a few ways for you to get it:
Ring - Violet Signet (I see you are Honored with Violet Eye, so this should be in your bank) and its also better then Ring of Ghoulish Delight wich is more of a PvP ring.
Also, replace all your +12 ap gems with +8 agi (will improve your dps, because you are beyond the pioint where agility benefits you more then AP)
And ofcourse, replace your meta gem with _12 agi/+3% critdamage as fast as you possibly can.
Because with 23.something %crit, make it 25% after gemchanges:
Those 3% extra critdamage gives you:
25% critchance = 25 in 100 shots a crit = 0.25 x 3 = 0.75%dps increase.

The H Mech drop is a better piece, but it's never dropped for me. And the Mainstay is a quest reward, so it's a 100% drop.

You win some, you lose some. I've had some luck in other areas, such as getting the Sonic Spear on my first run. I'm not going to complain about random chance, and I've got Gloves of Quickening now in any event.

yeah ok, did have to run SV 17 times for the shoulders to drop (and 25 for the legs), i've run SL 25+ times and i've yet to encounter a sonic spear and it took me 13 runs to get the boots from the first boss in sethekk halls. (wich were replaced within a week by first the leather boots from moroes and then the epic boots in Botanica >.< )
