Prot pallys and world pvpFollow

This may be a dumb topic, but figure I'd throw it out :)

Currently rocking a 33 prot spec tankadin, doing a lot of questing in STV at the moment on a PVP server.

My only other toon who has extensive world PVP experience is a 39 affliction warlock, who was able to take on 2v1 ambushes by dotting everything up, fearing them, and drain life when needed.

Been finding a prot Paladin to be significantly more challenging. I've had good luck against mages and even almost beat a warrior 3 levels above me (till he got a lucky crit), but ran into a hunter a level below me last night who soundly stomped me about 5 times in a row before he got bored and left. I just couldn't get a blow on him as he kept me at range (even using blessing of freedom liberally).

Since this is world pvp, I'm usually by myself and having to be both healer and damage dealer. I don't die easily, but don't dish out a ton of damage either. I'm pretty sure I'm playing my class right as I'm spamming/judging SoR, stuns, bubbles, etc to full effect.

I'm assuming that some classes are going to be tougher than others to defeat (like hunters). Anyone got any experience with pally world pvp that feels like giving insights?

Wait till you get HS and start blocking their shots, I probably made a hunter cry when he tried to gank me a few weeks ago, I was blocking stuff from his pet and his autoshot, my life was going down way slower than his mana and he eventually got me in a trap (stupid move on my end) and mounted up and ran away. As a lvl 33 Prot Paladin, you aren't going to be threatening to anyone... MAYBE a rogue or like you said a warrior, but ranged are going to be extra hard for you until you get better abilities.

Once in Tanaris, while doing a quest that involves killing some of those Ogres, I had a Rogue Gouge me and do his little tricks on me. I was Prot like you and not only managed to kill the Rogue with perma-Reckoning (it couldn't stop proc'ing) but I also killed the 3 Ogres I was fighting. Sure, I had to use my bubble, but I like to think it was a good fight.

Another time in Hinterlands, I was doing the escort quest with the robot chicken. At some point, some Moonkins spawn and attack. Hunter, of course, decides to try to gank me. For some reasons unknown to me to this day, I killed him and the Moonkins. (They helped proc'ing Reckoning too, so I guess it helped me kill the Hunter when I'd manage to get in range) He wasn't a great kiter though so I got too many opportunities.

But regardless, I don't think there's much that can be said to help you. Just remember to use all your tricks and pray for the best. You're definitely not a DPS spec so you'll have a hard time handling most fights. I suggest you play it like a Holy Pally, play defensively. Run people out of mana. Don't attack too much and burn your mana, just put pressure on them so they burn their. Heal often, bubble when appropriate.

All I can think of, sorry! ;P

Selverein, I think you hit on something that made sense to me. The hunter was one heck of a kiter. He was laying frost traps, freeze traps, concussion shot, etc like while always running back and taking pot shots while his pet whittled me down. He definately had skills and knew how to beat a non-ranged class.

Against any melee class you should be able to smash them without mercy. Against ranged and casters it'll be much tougher because they'll do everything they can to kite you. I've found using Seal of Justice can help with the occasional stun, keep throwing down HoJ, and if you're an engineer toss bombs like a madman. If you can manage to work HoJ and bombs in a decent rotation while praying for the occasional Seal of Justice proc, you can come out on top. However, I'd say even with all those tactics I still only win maybe 30-40% of my fights v. hunters.
