New +spelldamage totals for Windhawk set?Follow

Any leatherworkers with one or all pieces of the Windhawk set, can you confirm that after 2.3 the separate +healing stat adds 1/3 of its damage on top of the existing +spelldamage stat? If that's the case this set will have become much better for Balance Druids on the cheap, because this would make the base +damage higher than the equivalent Gladiator pieces and many similar cloth pieces.

I know that the Living Crystal Breatplate has changed in this manner, now giving more spelldamage than it used to. I just want to make sure the same thing has happened to the Windhawk set before I start grinding up nethers.

Of course, I just haven't swung through STV recently and no-one's been able to link them to me in-game so far, so I have not seen an in-game tooltip for these yet. I know that most WoW database sites say this change exists on Windhawk, but I also know that these sites can be and have been wrong, which is why I ask about in-game confirmation.

Haven't seen the gear on someone yet, but I've checked the recipes with AtlasLoot and it does seem like 1/3 of the +Heal has been added on top of the +SpellDmg that was already there.

I can say that it did indeed happen. My druid Mandragal has the full Windhawk set. Pre-patch he had 760ish +spell damag unbuffed. This went to about +800 thanks to the +healing to +spell damage conversion. You will hear no complaints on my end for it. :)

From what I have seen the Windhawk is on par with alot of the PvP sets and Tier 4. The nethers are not the problem with getting the set though. Three nethers compared with the 66 primals is not much. This is assuming that you farm the 36 individual primal air and then the mats for the Primal might transmutes.

The leatherworking mats are a joke to get. The windscales and knothide were easy due to farming for +spell damage food. Gotta love the Serpent flesh. In the end this set was well worth it. I know I will not find upgrades for some of the pieces outside of new items that blizzard will add in future patches.

Thanks for the confirmation magictg! You are right, at least as far as spelldamage goes this makes the Windhawk set better than even the freshly released S1 Gladiator. You're basically trading resilience for extra damage, extra healing and spirit. I PvP, grind for mats and instance in about equal amounts so ultimately I value the damage more than the resilience.

Since my guild is very friend-oriented and casual I doubt I'll run anything bigger than a Heroic, so I'll hardly ever see gear drops or badge rewards that beat this "new" Windhawk set. Given the way some of my friends play it's very useful to be able to switch from Boomkin to healer at a moment's notice and do well at both. If I combine the extra 130 or so healing that comes from this set with potions, oil, food and switching in a good healing weapon during caster form I can hit +1200 healing in caster and +1000 spelldamage in Moonkin. Considering that this can be achieved without large-scale raiding or arena grinding, I'll be very happy with those numbers... at least until WotLK greens start dropping :)
