question about idolsFollow

Just wondering what Idol is preferred for tanking. Currently I have Idol of the Wild. It doesn't really seem that any of the idols help a ton in bear form anyways. just wanted to see what you all thought.

Thanks for any info.

Idol of Brutality from Magistrate Barthillas in Stratholme adds damage to maul and swipe, I think...which makes it the best threat producer.

When your threat generation isn't a problem anymore, or when OT'ing, the Idol from the swift-flight quest chain will increase the crit bonus from LoTP, which will raise your threat, but also that of your entire group/raid.

if you do heroics/karazhan, get the Idol of Terror badge reward.

Yea i was thinking about the Idol of Terror. I just spent all except one Badge on the Tanking cape.

On a side note, do you know how often it procs?? I mean you can only mangle like every 5 or 6 secs. If it has a proc rate of like 25% or so, it may only proc once or less during a trash mob pull for example.

Thanks for any info.

According to wowhead it has a 85% chance to proc.

It really has a high proc rate, but in my experience also a hidden cooldown.
When using it for soloing in cat (mainly hitting from the front) it will usually
proc on the first mangle or more rarely on the second.
However it will not proc again no matter how many mangles you make as long as the buff is up.
TBH I have not been paying enough attention to how much it procs when tanking, but
like you say you can only mangle at best every 6 seconds, and it will not refresh
when the buff is up. Still I think you will see the buff up most of the time if
you keep mangle on CD like you should anyway.
With kara level gear I also believe that the 65 agi is worth alot more for a tank
than a little extra raw damage to mangle/maul.

I haven't tried it for dps in raids, but elitistjerks has stated that everbloom is
still better even if it is up all the time.

The proc has a 10sec cooldown (same as the buff length), so it can't refresh itself. With the 6 sec mangle cooldown (in bear) and the 85% proc rate, it works out to be up about 70% of the time if you are using Mangle everytime it is up.

For tanking or soloing (&PvP?) the Idol of Terror is the best option. For raid DPS (where you are able to shred) then the Everbloom Idol is still #1.

Wow thanks for the great info. Now I just gotta hit up some more Heroics for badges ... and then spend em. Easy come, Easy go.
