Which is now available to purchase via honour points seems like a huge upgrade to my current 'shield of the wayward footman':

The arena shields have nice armor, sta, and block.
Go for it.
Only thing I would say, try to form an arena team and work toward the S3 shield. I did this for the S2 shield last season (took @9 weeks if I remember - half of which I did as prot...ouch). My 'lock buddy and I lost quite a bit in the beginning until I respecced Arms...but I got my shield.
I'm very happy with the shield and will probably not upgrade it until WotLK comes out due to not raiding right now.

Good suggestion, I am planning to start fooling around a bit in the Arena with a few guildmates. I think I will pick up this shield now since it's attainable within days rather than weeks.

You know what ... as long as the to-do list keeps getting longer, it's a good thing. When your to-do list degenrates into 1 point - "Farm motes for no particular reason" - then there's a problem. But as long as it's growing, you're enjoying yourself, and that's the most important !
Agreed, it's fun being a new lvl 70..just hit it last week.
The guild I'm in has only about 8 lvl 70's as well. We haven't even done a lvl 70 dungeon, much less Heroic's, Kara etc...
It's fun being in the gearing-up and starting out phase.
I'm not looking forward to the days where it becomes a boring chore.

Nice Armory for a new 70. I tanked lower Kara in similar gear. And tanked all of Kara except Nethersprite in gear that was just a bit better. Maybe get that tanking axe from the Shadowmoon valley quest line and you're good to go for lower Kara.

I'm pretty sure that starts the long chain. Good thing is at 70 it will get you loads of gold for quest completions.

And I have tanked the Prince with that axe a number of times (I am just about the unluckiest loot drop toon ever - I am @4k from exalted with Violet Eye after loads of Kara runs and have only 1 piece of Kara tank loot).
