Looking through the forums I can see alot of advice on the specs to take as a hunter, but I cannot find anything on which skills to train your pet.

What would people advice is the best mix for a BM Hunter about to start raiding.

Currently I have trained by Cat:

Great Stamina 9
Natural Armour 8
Avoidance 1
Arcane Resist 2
Shadow Resiat 2
Fire Resiat 1
Frost Resist 1
Claw 9
Bite 5
Growl 8

In raids your pet doesn't need the extra armor. If he's getting hit, he's dead anyway. Definitely get Cobra Reflexes and take Avoidance rank 2 along with maxing out Stamina so your pet can have the best chance to live through AOE.

Spend talent points on special attacks (claw, gore, bite, etc.), some form of speed enhancement (dash, dive, charge or warp), cobra reflexes and avoidance. Then max out stamina. Stamina 'mitigates' magical and physical attacks. Armor only works against physical attacks. If you're on a PvP server, you'll want Prowl on cats. Put any remaining points in armor.

Max rank attack skills, Cobra reflexes, Avoidance rank 2 highest rank stamina you can get and use the rest on resists. I have Nature and Shadow resist rank 3 I think on my cat.

Offensive pets are the only way you should go, defensive pets don't live enough more time to warrant the drop in DPS, just in case you were wondering.
